Step right up. The line to jump on the Panthers’ bandwagon starts directly behind me. I’ll be your driver for the 2003 season, and while it may be a bumpy ride, at least it should be interesting.
OK, so the Panthers aren’t going to win the Super Bowl this year. They may not even make the playoffs. But in a league in which wife beatings and DUIs have become commonplace, the Panthers have become a team that can be loved without embarrassment. Sure, there are some rough spots still to deal with — no team is filled with angels, and if it were, it would get stomped every Sunday — but the Panthers at least have some guys you can root for and who have something to prove....
