Do or Die Season For Fitz

Five things the Bills quarterback needs to accomplish in 2011 to prove
    he's the long-term answer

Quarterback controversies are nothing new at One Bills Drive. Since Jim
Kelly hung up his cleats, fans have debated Flutie vs. Johnson, Bledsoe vs.
Losman, Losman vs. Edwards, and so on.
Going into 2011, there is no doubt
who will be starting under center. But that doesn't mean the season is going
to be free of a quarterback controversy. Quite the opposite. Eyes will be
glued on Ryan Fitzpatrick's every movement on the field, as fans and the media
hope to answer the question on everyone's minds: Is he the Bills long-term
    answer?

he will never be a long term answer

he is a solid stop gap for us to build around until we can land that long term option

      Agreed

The good thing about it all is that he is a very likeable guy and does play some exciting football at times.

If he can accomplish those goals, then we can focus on other areas of needs.

Fitz won't be here in 2013.

People said that about Drew Breeze. I am not say one is the other...however neither is the statement "He will never" as you never know until they play. There is a good deal of value in that the team and coaches have confidence in him...he has intangibles even know his idol seems to be eric the red. I dont even think it is do or die for him...if he pulls out a marginal season he still has value as the one we draft in 2012 will probably not start either...so he will have next year or the beginning of it anyway to get another "Do or Die" season....

            We shall see.

            I am keeping open mind.

but good players around him and hey maybe we win more games

but i feel he has to show more this year

2nd yr in the system and more talent around him

Re: Do or Die Season For Fitz

Most of us already have a pretty decent grasp of what Fitz is capable of. Can he give you some quality starts as an NFL QB? yes, but is he a long term answer at the position, I'd have to say no. Fitz is in a class with guys like Chad Pennington of a few years ago, (hard worker, good character, first in, last to leave) but simply lacks the talent to compete on a level with what is the standard for elites in the NFL today- ie Roethlisberger, Manning, Brady, etc. Can he win against these guys? probably, any given Sunday right?. But he wont ever have that kind of career that says this guy is the answer we've been waiting for. JMO

                    Fitz is our Jay Fiedler

                    same basic guy/player.

                    lets not overestimate his value.
My wife told me that if I had a dollar for every girl who found me unattractive, girls would find me VERY attractive.

                    MY WIFE SAID THAT!!!

Re: Do or Die Season For Fitz

This isn't a do or die season for Fitz. As long as he doesn't completely crap the bed, he will see a lucrative contract somewhere if not Buffalo. The guy is going to make millions of more dollars most likely in his QB career, in other words.

He also most likely won't be the long term answer for anybody any more than Kyle Orton was for Denver...and I happen to think that Orton has shown more than Fitz so far. Those two guys aren't that far removed, with the edge going to Orton IMO.

Unless it's a complete surprise to everyone that knows anything, Fitz isn't expected to be the long term answer anyway. His contract is up after 2011, and we haven't made an attempt to extend it. That says something right there.

He's a great guy to root for this year, but you can leave it at that for now.
