So we are getting the 2nd Rounder?

chernobylwraiths

yep, they announced it at the draft before the start of the second round

this is a salary cap dump

Buffalo accepts another teams crap for salary cap reasons. This is why the poor teams always get ripped off to get rid of a high salary player.

What's the consensus on this trade are we a better team because of it ?

2012 2nd Round

Sounds like a great trade. Regehr is a very solid defensive defenseman, and we get a 2nd rounder and some insurance (Kotalik) who can play in Rochester.

We give up virtually nothing.

absolutely!

Except for a few whiners who didn't want him because he didn't jump at the opportunity to come to Buffalo.

It was the part about wanting to wait to see if a better trade was coming.

Is it that bad that a guy wants to see if a "better deal" come along. I mean rationally, we have had two first round exits and two missed playoffs in the last 4 years.

I'm happy. Butler will be a little bit of a loss for depth but sometimes you got to make those moves......now get a center.

If you guys think we whine on this board, Flames fans are going ****ing nuts on HF Boards.

They should be. They got nothing. Salary cap moves suck.

Nice trade. Defense is upgraded right away. Now let's get a center

Almost feel bad for the Flames fans/fans on that HF board. They went from Regehr + Kotalik for Ennis, to R+K for Byron + Butler + 2nd Rounder, to R+K+2nd Rounder for Byron + Butler. It just kept getting progressively worse for them as more details became available.

OK, I don't feel that bad, but reading their reactions as more details were released was priceless.

we are a much better team because of this trade. This guy is character on the ice and in the locker room. He is a solid stay at home blue liner and is exactly what this team needs protecting a lead in the 3rd and especially come playoff time.

I was thinking the same thing. Also, I don't remember the last time that a player waived his No Move Clause to come to Buffalo. Sure, it took some convincing, but it's still really sweet that he did. :bf1:

Actually, the big part of Pegula is that he is willing to eat the Kotalik contract should he end up in the minors - that was impossible under the previous ownership.

if we can call kotalik up from rochester at the end of tie game, then we got a player in the transaction. if not, it was totally disappointing to see kotalik coming back to buffalo. I trust he won't be in buffalo ever.

darcy, love him or hate him, usually gets what he wants at a decent price. the problem is he hasn't pulled the trigger for a while.

this got me excited for july1 .

It's an advantage to have another capable winger in Kotalik when needed.

The system is the same as it was when he left with the relatively same coaching staff, so he should be able to jump right back in no problem.

He'll play to role of Gragnani or Mancari in being a reliable call-up, with previous NHL and Sabres experience.

Emphasis mine, not Kotlikker's.
There's a reason he's been traded twice and barely cracked an AHL squad in the last few seasons.... he's more concerned about his hats.

I didn't mean outstanding, but if we need a body in case of injury, he'll be that guy.

anyone else notice that Terry has shown up/been in more press conferences in the last 4 months than Golisano has in the last 2 years...?
