WR Steve Smith for a 3rd?

    2 Deal with Steve Smith

Or simply deal the disgruntled receiver.

Smith went to Panthers' management before the lockout to express his displeasure following a couple of frustrating seasons for the four-time Pro Bowler. Smith said recently he wants to play for a team committed to winning immediately, but would not say whether the Panthers were such a team.

At 32, Smith remains a big-play threat who could thrive in Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski's stretch-the-field system. But an unhappy Smith working with a first-year coach and quarterback might be more headache than it's worth.

The Panthers will try to get a proven player in return for Smith, who is due about $15million over the next two years. But a third-round pick might be enough to pull the trigger.
Ive been vocal about my concerns about our WR corp. Smith's contract isn't cheap (7.5 per season) but his skill level is undeniable. Very down year last year but with horrible QB's. I think he's got plenty left in the tank.

Yeah I stopped reading after that part. Not that I was interested anyway in a 32-year-old $7 million receiver.

He's gonna be a Patriot or a Steeler.

You want to trade a 3rd rnd pick & pay big money for a 32 year old WR that has lost it when a WR is not even needed? I have watched him the last couple years & don't think he has much left myself. People on this site are always bagging on Evans who is much better than Smith at this point.

Probably gonna go to the Jets, since they're gonna be losing Holmes, or Edwards, and since they love old, washed up big names.

Fitz isn't a qb that Smith would want throwing to him.

Evans, Johnson, Parrish, Nelson, Easley's possibilities, and Jones/Roosevelt for the possible 5th/6th?

                        I'll pass on Smith's baggage.

The Pats traded a 4th rounder for Moss. They're not going to trade a 3rd for Smith. The Steelers are a possibility, as are the Jets.

Nope it was an idea being floated to see what the reaction would be. I do think our WR corp could use the help.
