Forwards:

Stafford - Roy - Vanek
Ennis - Leino - Boyes
Gerbe - Hecht - Pomenville
McCormick - Gaustad - Kaleta

Defense:

Regehr - Myers
Ehrhoff - Weber
Sekera - Leopold

Goalie:
Miller
Enroth

Reserves - Kotalik, Grangnani, Morrisson

That doesn't even include guys that could surprise and make the team displacing Kotalik and Morrisson.

I bet Ennis is the center in the 2nd line.

From what I heard in the Presser, they got Leino because they think he can play Center.

Interesting....So once they realized that Richards is definitely going to the Rangers. They figured they would go with the second best forward on the market and move him back to Center.

Yep, I guess he played Center early in his career and he was taking face-offs for the Flyers anyhow.

Ship Kotalik to the minors and bring in Drury to play the middle of the 3rd line and move Hecht to the wing to replace Gerbe who in turn replaces Kotalik.

Gerbe goes to the bench? That's a waste.

For over a million a season too.

I'm not sure I like Leino in the middle. That's what killed Boyes' production at the end of the season.

Also, Weber over Morrison?

That is a surprise?

Marc Andre Gragnini should be the 6th defensemen.. if not he should be traded for forward depth..

Years ago, Regehr and Leopold made up one of the best defensive units in the NHL.

I think Kiprusoff had a lot to do with it.

Other than Hecht and Boyes I like the forwards. Who knows maybe Kassian will make the roster even though I doubt it.

We have Miller...I hear that he's pretty good.

I worry a little about the defensive pairings. We have offensive defensemen Myers, Leopold, Sekera, Gragnani and Ehrhoff. Defensive defensemen of Regehr and Weber. Myers is the best one on both ends. It just means we will have a pairing of two offensive defensemen at times which could be a liability.

It's not a liability if they score. That's the only stat I care about.

Note - Those were my pairings. There was no depth chart on the Sabres website when I posted that. I'm sure LR doesn't even know what he will do yet. Don't forget Leopold and Regehr were a pair in Calgary.

It was when we kept giving up goals though. Especially short handed. I love having some offensive minded defensemen, but they should be able to play good defensively first. It almost sounds at times like our team is built around offensive defensemen and defensive offensemen. Makes for a crappy style of play in the playoffs.

I hate watching Sabres playoff hockey at times because it just seems like 70% of the games are played in our end.

Still hoping for a trade for a bigger offensive punch.

Short handed goals has nothing to do with defensive pairings. There are usually four forwards on the ice.

Is that based on stats or your own thinking? And it has everything to do with sloppy play from the point, which is where the defense is supposed to be.

I just wish our defense was taught that if you are the one on a two on one, take away the pass. I hate seeing the defenseman lie down and basically take themselves almost completely out of the play.
