I put a bid in, but wasn't sure if this was a "public" type auction... You beat my silent bid, but would have bid higher if I was sure of what type of auction we were holding.

Either way, I didn't win, so no worries here... Just wasn't sure of the correct way to bid.

I'm glad we'll get a ruling on this on someone I wasn't really crazy about winning, as opposed to someone I could possibly want more... I don't wanna screw up bidding when it really counts. :)

Gwen was also a public auction, where people bid in the thread... And, we see what chaos those bring...

I could see some rules getting made/amended after this auction, as everyone bid in the forum. How many put in silent bids?

I won Rosie in a Flash Auction with silent bid. Can't change the rules now.

I would tend to agree... But, everyone involved was bidding in the thread, which made it look like a public auction... I put in a silent bid, just in case it was a silent auction, but how many others did? I saw a couple of guys bidding that I've never seen bid before, so they might not have known that normally, they are silent auctions.

Like I said, if King only got silent bids from you and I, he might count this thread, as there were at least 5 others bidding in the thread.

As I said before, I didn't win either way, so it doesn't affect me... I think we'll most likely see "Silent Auction" or "Thread Auction" in the first post from now on, which would eliminate any sort of confusion.

How old can pictures be? That above picture doesn't look like a recent one. If they can be older, then a younger Christina Applegate should have been used and the same could go for alot of contestants. I kinda thought that we were bidding & later judging on people as they are now - not at the peak of their "hotness". If so, then that changes things...

With her money she could get it done in 2 months.
It would be easy to do, no work, someone cooking for you, personal trainer.

Some of us have young children that wear us out thus causing us to go to bed earlier then we are accustomed to. Stratton, don't you remember when your kids were young and tired you out?

Since when is 11:30 to late for you all. Put down the XBox controller and corn chips and check the Zone for christ sake.

11.30pm wouldn't be too late.

Some of us don't get up until later in the morning, due to work schedules... For example, I don't usually get up until around 10-ish and sometimes sleep in a little later on days off... So, should we not have flash auctions before then as well?

There have been a LOT more auctions that have taken place in the morning than have in the evening. The bidding ended at 11:30, so it wasn't even that late. I, for one, would welcome more auctions later in the evening.

The point is, a Flash Auction can happen at ANY TIME. Not every person will catch every auction... I've missed a few (Last week's is one that immediately comes to mind) as well... I didn't like it, but I don't think the format of Flash should be changed because I might not be up at that time.

There are already 5 guaranteed girls up every week, that you know what time they'll be available until. Having a random timed card once a week isn't a huge issue.

I come to work by around 6:30, so I like to try to get to bed by around 10. I don't have summers off and get 1000 paid holidays and only work 7 hours a day.

My wife did go back to school 2 years ago and earned her teaching Masters degree after a business undergrad background.

Unfortunately she was unable to land a teaching job other than a couple of teaching assistants gigs that paid minimum wage so she came back to where we currently work full time.

Since she has come back she has become team lead of her group and has recieved a couple nice promotions and is making good money.

The part that is now killing me is is she now owes like 50k in school debt and will be paying it back until we are old asses. I supported her going for it and still do but it is stinging each month when her loan bill comes in. Hopefully she comes accross a teaching gig at some point!

I feel for you Corey. My wife did the same thing. Only problem is she still can't find a job in her field. We've talked about relocation once the kids are out of high school in four years.

I'm in bed by 11 every night essentially. I also don't really get on here after my wife gets home either though, so I'm unlikely to see anything after about 6pm.

See we are good in a sense that she never quit her current job and had an altered schedule. She was able to come back full time and like I said was promoted and making good money. I just feel like she is now going to be paying 400+ bucks a month until we are in our 50s for something that wasn't needed.

The only good thing I can see about it would be she has huge flexibility and marketability in multiple fields if needed.

Another good thing is she doesn't have to rush into the wrong situation. She can be picky when looking at teaching jobs.

She "doesn't need" her undergrad to do what she's doing. Though obviously it could come in useful someday.

Same thing here. She still has her job and it is much more solid than before, although the company isn't doing that well.

Wow, seems like the common theme so far has been going to college for a certain field then not getting a job in that field.

Sounds like a bad investment to me.

I think it is the true reason why I feel like college in general is a giant scam out side of very specialized fields like drs and lawyers.

It would not be possible to become a doctor, dentist, scientist, lawyer, etc right out of high school. Students who graduate from high school just don't have the scientific basics (for the former) nor the maturity to succeed. Now, if you wanted to talk about an intense two year program (not to be confused with a two year community college degree) that includes college level biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, etc which would proceed attendance at a professional school that's a different matter. I still don't recommend it but it would be possible. The four year degree - for those programs - are still the way to go.

Not win... :whistling

I'm hoping the winning bid is like $35,000.01 Just enough to make sure he can't win.

Better yet, I'd like to see him sell Danica McKellar back, take the $10k cap hit and 2 day ban from auctions, just to have JLH come up in the 2nd auction... He'd have no cards, a $190k cap and not be able to bid on her...

And don't tell lawyers and physicians that they have a "trade". Their egos are too big for that.

You know what I learned at community college? (Not to be confused where you apparently went to school....) The difference between proceed and precede.
