It’s never too late to put together a big ol’ free agent list.
With the insanity already starting (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/26/dolphins-interested-in-acquiring-kyle-orton/), it would be too late to post it any later than this Tuesday morning.
Here are my Top 80 free agents, with comments limited to the top 40 so I can get back to cranking out rumors (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/) before Florio yells at me.
This list was made with players that are free agents before any cuts are officially announced.
1. Nnamdi Asomugha (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=779), Raiders CB: A Hall of Fame player still in his prime. Rare.
2. Johnathan Joseph (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3693), Bengals CB: Hardly Asomugha, but Joseph has Pro Bowl-caliber playmaking skills at a young age.
3. Santonio Holmes (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3635), Jets WR: Arguably one of the 10 best receivers in football. Could explode on a pass-first team.
4. Charles Johnson (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4245), Panthers DE: There is some concern he’s a one-year wonder, but Johnson’s ability to get to the quarterback stands out in this class.
5. Zach Miller (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5394), Raiders TE: One of the most complete tight ends in football just entering his prime.

6. DeAngelo Williams (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3611), Panthers RB: He can play all three downs and is effective in any down and distance situation.
7. Cullen Jenkins (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2999), Packers DL: A versatile lineman that can disrupt on all three downs.
8. Marshall Yanda, Ravens G: Position flexibility and toughness will make this unknown player rich.
9. Ahmad Bradshaw (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4305), Giants RB: A wildly underrated playmaker who has improved dramatically in his career.
10. Sidney Rice (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4188), Vikings WR: No. 1 receiver skills, but plenty of risk here.
11. Tyson Clabo (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3095), Falcons T: Plug him in as your right tackle for at least a few years.
12. Doug Free (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4456), Cowboys T: Surprisingly good play in 2010 will make him costly for the Cowboys to keep.
13. Braylon Edwards (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3126), Jets WR: Overrated. Even on this list.
14. Ray Edwards (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3942), Vikings DE: How will he fare without Jared Allen (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2837) and the Williams Wall attracting attention? May get overpaid.
15. Ike Taylor (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=651), Steelers CB: A solid cornerback, but the Steelers rarely let players leave too early. Expect one more good year, two is a bonus.
16. Matt Roth (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3190), Browns LB: A complete outside linebacker that still hasn’t uncorked his pass-rushing potential.
17. Davin Joseph (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3614), Bucs G: A lot of different opinions out there on Joseph. He’s a mauler in the run game.
18. Aubrayo Franklin (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2231), 49ers DT: A quick solution for teams needing a run stopper. Perhaps a late career Pat Williams (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2304).
19. Brandon Mebane (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4367), Seahawks DT: Plenty of upside for this run stopper. A boom or bust pick.
20. Eric Weddle (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4223), Chargers S: A lot of teams need a safety that can cover.
21. Mathias Kiwanuka (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3616), LB/DE: If not for his neck injury, he’d be ranked in the top five on this list. Worth a gamble.
22. Robert Gallery (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=1656), Raiders G: A more-than-capable starter at guard.
23. Antonio Cromartie (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3671), Jets CB: He’s never going to be better than he was for Rex Ryan, and he wasn’t that good then.
24. Kevin Boss (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4264), Giants TE: The poor man’s Zach Miller (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4158). He’s easily better than half the starters in the league because of his complete game.
25. Justin Blalock (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4216), Falcons G: Young starting guards tend to get overpaid in free agency.
26. Barett Ruud, Bucs LB: Perhaps he’s not a huge playmaker, but you’ll get leadership and production from Ruud.
27, Harvey Dahl (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3577), Falcons G: If you want to inject your line with a little nastiness, Dahl is your guy.
28. Steve Smith (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2386), Giants WR: Like Kiwanuka, he’d be far higher (top 10) if not for any injury. A worthwhile risk because he should be great in 2012 and beyond.
29. Stephen Tulloch (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3936), Titans LB: Can do a lot of things as a starting linebacker.
30. Paul Posluszny (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4175), Bills LB: The Bills seem serious about keeping him.
31. Roman Harper (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3697), Saints S: He’s not great in coverage, but don’t let one playoff game fool you. Harper is a quality starter.
32. Jason Babin (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2783), Titans DE: A tricky evaluation coming off a career year.
33. Carlos Rogers (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3159), Redskins CB: He’s shown flashes, but struggles with consistency. The right coach could make a big difference.
34. Matt Hasselbeck (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=519), Seahawks QB (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=526): Can still play at a high level if surrounded by the right piece. Not a long-term solution.
35. Santana Moss (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=867), Redskins WR: Still highly productive. A smart player.
36. Jermon Bushrod (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4455), Saints T: Probably worth more to the Saints than anyone else, but a league avearage left tackle. That has value.
37. Steve Breaston (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4261), Cardinals WR: An injury risk but speed kills. He could make a big difference to a wideout group.
38. Ronnie Brown (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3155), Dolphins RB: Can handle short-yardage and third downs equally well. Still plenty of value as a rotational back.
39. Darren Sproles (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3221), Chargers RB: Reggie Bush (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3600)’s skill set (or better) without the drama.
40. Matt Light (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=1085), Patriots T: A fine short-term solution for teams needing blind side help.
41. James Jones (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4242), Packers WR
42. Jared Gaither (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4497), Ravens T
43. Dashon Goldson (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4444), 49ers S
44. Lance Moore (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3545), Saints WR
45. Josh Wilson (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4229), Ravens CB
46. Quintin Mikell (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=765), Eagles S
47. Joseph Addai (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3646), Colts RB
48. Malcom Floyd (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3086), Chargers WR
49. Michael Huff (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3654), Raiders S
50. Clint Session (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4406), Colts LB
51. Quincy Black (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4238), Bucs LB
52. Cedric Benson (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3139), Bengals RB
53. Shaun Ellis (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=870), Jets DE
54. Willie Colon (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3912), Steelers T
55. Dawan Landry (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3956), Ravens S
