He is a top flight Safety afterall. I'd have thought he would have been signed by now.

If he leaves, I really hope the Bills look into Darren Sharper. I don't care how old he is, that guy can play and would be a good influence on Searcy, Byrd, Williams, etc.

I can't stand Donte and I want him off the team, but there is part of me that would love to see him have to put his tail between his legs and come back to accept the Bills' offer because no one else was interested in him.

He really could use the blow to his ego.

PFT doesn't even list Donte in their top-80 free agents, nor is he listed in the 17 players who "just missed" the top-80.

Average safties who don't make plays are not in command. Thanks Marv and Dick for another one of your sh***y picks.

I bet Buffalo caves and offers him his money after all the Big Names balk at us cause they don't want to play here

If he ends up out of football, please note my article from like 2 years ago. Whitner follows a long cast of characters that are out of the league in 5 years when drafted in even year. That's not very good for first round picks.

2000- Erik FLowers (out of football in 5 years)
2001 - Nate clements (good for a while)
2002 - Mike Williams (out of football in 5 years, but returned)
2003 - no pick
2004 - JP (out of football for a season in year 5)
Lee Evans (marginal player by league standards, allstar pick for bills in 2000's
2005 - No pick
2006 - Whitner (could be out of football in 6 years)
mccargo (should have been out in 4 years)
2007 - Marshawn (off our team in 4 years)
2008 - Mckelvin (slowly coming off as a bust)
2009- Maybin (will be out of football at the end of this year)
wood (solid pick)
2010- Spiller (has done nothing)

Ouch. Looking at our first round picks makes me sick.

On draft day a few years ago, ESPN put together a montage of terrible recent 1st round picks by the NY Jets, along with fan reactions. I laughed. A lot.

Sadly, they could now do the same for us.

It's pretty sad for your career when even the Bills won't sign you.

I don't think he'll end up out of football. He said on twitter how he loves his agent for not showing his hand. lol. I can imagine the agent blowing smoke up his ass telling Donte that the phone's ringing off the hook and he's working on the best deal.

Whitner's pretty serviceable; he just gets a lot of vitriol b/c he doesn't make near enough big plays to warrant his outspokenness or draft position.

He will be offered a contract by someone, that's for sure.

Our average draft pick on both sides of the ball (projected starters) is 3rd round. Only 3 players on offense (projected) were taken beyond the 5th round (Johnson, Fitzy, Jackson), and all but Urbik were drafted by the Bills. That being said, each player on D aside from Byrd, Williams, McGeeand Moats/Kelsay is a high pick from a different team. I leave the SS open to judgment at this point, but each player we've drafted to "help immediately" (aka start day 1) have ended poorly. Pr ran off.

Oi... Why do I crunch these numbers...

He's as irrelevant now as he was on the field

It's starting to look like maybe NFL teams agree with us "negative" posters who think Donte is nothing special.

You'd think Cleveland would be the obvious landing spot, but .......... crickets

Now THAT would be humiliating if even Dick Jauron didn't want him

I would love that too, but he'd turn into more of cancer than he already is. I wonder if the Bills are worried that he'll accept their lowball offer (if there even was one) at some point.

Fortunately, they're not obligated to leave the offer on the table. If he hasn't signed it, they could always rescind it.

Adam Caplan was on a philly radio station last night and said the Eagles should look into him since they need a safety

Well, when it comes to Whitner, you can include me & 99% of the Board as being "negative" posters.

hey Op, the reason they can't make that video of bills fans booing our bad first round picks is because all the apologists just sit there and clap anyways. "yeah, we got another DB! he's the BPA!"
