A league source tells me there's legitimate interest from the #Bills (http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23Bills) in ILB Kevin Burnett, and the 2 sides will resume talks in a day or two

That or use the Bills to jack up his price elsewhere.

Could be a very good pick up for a Bills team lacking in a starting caliber inside linebacker.

you're on the dance floor making out with the hot chic. wow, she's so into me.

then you notice her eyes are open and she's looking at her exboyfriend. She's just there to make him mad. The boyfriend comes back and they leave together.

IN bills lingo, burrett is getting the best deal possible from the bills. His agent says quietly to the Bills, "hey, we know you targeted a couple guys with great contracts, but they chose the other team. I know with kevin, he's going to sign if you can throw anothe $2MM per season on it, what do you say?" The bills front office look at each other and realize that they have nothing to sell the bills fans and the season tickets are low. They agree. They get another $2mm on the table. Burrnett's agent takes that offer to a team that regularly wins. They agree. The bills go home wanking it while some other team gets his services.

The End.

I don't understand why they can't negotiate with him and sign their Draft picks at the same time... Or, is the "can't walk and chew bubblegum" thing going on?

Had exactly the same thought, and now that Williams is signed, we have exactly one pick to go. And we don't have time to even talk with Burnett's agent?

Mind boggling.

Maybe if we had signed Clabo and Burnett and all of our rookies and sophomores play like pro bowlers and the Patriots and Jets swap divisions with the Browns and Lions.

I don't buy this "were focusing on our rookies today". Almost all our rookies are done, if they really want him they will resume talks today.

The Bills' interest was reported yesterday. This is the first I've heard that it's mutual.

This is the difference between actually doing something or not this "offseason"

Don't know if you guys caught it but rumors are Burnett will be in Mia tonight for a visit.

I will be pissed of the Fins snag him because we decided to wait while we handled other business... We should not stop doing FA business.

Son of a *****! Why can't the Bills stop being so ****ing cheap and dumb and start talking to these guys earlier? It's like they don't want to spend any money to make the team better and prefer to sit on their ass all weekend long. :sigh:

And I'm not even talking about big splash guys. This guy is just a solid starter.

It's bad enough that you can't see that you need to be competing to get better (if true and it' not done yet). But it's even worse when you don't have a good sense for how to time not so flashy moves.

It's got to play itself out before we can truly evaluate this. It could be we just don't rank him as highly as the Fins. But, I'm troubled that we reportedly waited because of other business. Do you not realize that the rest of the league is still moving?

The problem is that it's just one guy that handles all the salaries and cap stuff, that would be Jim Overdorf.

Hmmm....build via the draft, I'm beginning to wonder. Perhaps the reason OBD keeps saying that is because they have no f$&$ing clue how to build, improve or even conduct business via FA. This crap about dropping everything to focus on signing our rookies, never heard another team say anything like that before. If that is what they really did, they should keep that kind of intense strategy information under wraps.

Merriman is a complete unknown at this point given that he has not been productive in the NFL for a number of years.
