Jets agree to terms with Plaxico Burress, give receiver second chance at NFL
Plaxico Burress will have the chance to do what he recently talked about: try for Super Bowls on both New York teams.
More importantly, the Jets have given the 33-year-old receiver a second chance at the NFL, after serving nearly two years in prison for gun possession.
Burress and the Jets agreed to terms on a deal this morning, the team confirmed. ESPN first reported the move, reportedly a 1-year deal for $3.017 million fully guaranteed.
“I know they have a good team and everybody knows Rex (Ryan), so …” Burress told The Star-Ledger yesterday, when asked about the Jets. “I think (Ryan) is great. He stands behind his players, I think his players have a lot of respect for him and they play hard for him. … He’s a great coach, great personality. He seems like he’s always upbeat.”
