In my opinion, this was an above average signing with the potential to make the defense and team better as a unit. I know there are reservations with age and injury concerns, and I know there will always be a certain level of negativity that comes with being a Bills fan. But, I believe if we are healthy, our rookies contribute and our 2nd year players take a step forward, this Bills team is improved and could be competitive very shortly.

Back to Barnett... He brings outstanding leadership, knowledge and intensity to a linebacking corps that needed some direction. If Barnett and Merriman return to form, imagine those two at 100% behind a line of possible pro bowlers in Dareus and Williams.

We got better folks. How much better, time will tell. But I really like the last two drafts and I love this signing.

So basically this is a pretty even swap out for losing Poz... Gaining a little championship experience...

At this point the team is the same as last years team, but with another apparent solid draft added to the mix.... and a wildcat QB.

Sure would love to bring in Kevin Boss of Zach Miller though.... not crazy about any of the OL prospects out there

Lots of NFL saying Miller is a liability in blocking. Doubt we bring him in, I rather see a lesser player like Boss.

He's 30 years old, how much money did you think he was going to get?

Tulloch is 26 and received a one year deal at less than 4m, and he's just as good at this stage.

Barnett behaves like a ****, just ask Packer fans, but he's a definite upgrade.

Well if Poz is worth 7m per year then I'd have expected 5-6m per year. He's a proven vet who can play both inside and outside in the 3-4. Though it could just be that the Jags overpaid for Poz and this is a realistic figure.

Well showing patience doesn't mean not bringing in someone who can help if they're available. It means doing your due diligence and making the move you think is best.

People try to read too much into what Buddy says when at this time of the year you need to blow smoke up a few asses to hide what you're working on.

An upgrade at fair market value-a vet that knows how to win, and set the defense-a player acquired at a position that needed one.

Aces all around.

Good signing for a good price.

However I worry about how many times the Bills need to take on major injury risk players.

Dwan Edwards, Merriman, now Barnett.... If they all play to their ability and stay on the field it's a great group....

They need to sign a TE like Boss or Miller. (or both really)
And get a RT already.. Gaither if they want injury risks....

Who is the other starting S besides Byrd?

he is definitely a better fit in our 3-4 than poz was. poz is a very talented player but barnett fits this system better. also with his old D-Coordinator bob sanders here who knows how to help wannstead use him he could potentially really succeed with us. as far as the rest of free agency look for a T to def be picked up... my bet is gaither. the bills have had interest in him before and he will come on a 1-2 year deal because of his youth to prove he is solid again. also i can see us targeting a TE. i firmly believe david martin at his reasonable cap number and shawn nelson (still on his rookie deal) make this teal but i could see another TE added.

I don't think we bring in a big name TE.
Just isn't Gailey's style.
We didn't need 1 last year we had D. Nelson play that role as a slot TE type player.
Lets see what Shawn Nelson can bring this year as well..
He could fit that role as well.....

I can still see the Bills looking at depth in other spots then starting to RESIGN some of there other players....Like Stevie johnson, Bell, etc........
Lock your young guys up because thats what this team is about..........
They have a nice young nucleus lets just keep them together.......
