Don't get your hopes up. TEs just aren't Gailey's thing; Brad Smith is.

How many times must it be said that tight ends are not needed in Chan Gailey's style of offense before people understand it?

Seeing how good TE's can cause huge problems for opposing D's. It's ridiculous Gailey doesn't use one more.

Look at Gates, Witten, and even Todd Heap over the years. Those guys are nightmares to cover because you can't do it with a LB.

I haven't looked it up yet, but did Tony Gonzalez's production go down when Gailey was his OC? Just wondering if he was less of a weapon in that system.

Agreed. I know Gailey's offense doesn't really use TE's, but at the same time...why? TE's can be very valuable, especially ones that can both block and catch. Put one or even two of those guys on the field and the defense has something of a quandary - are we going to run or pass? It should end up being a mismatch either way in the end.

Though I do think Gailey's offense can be successful - spread the field, kind of like Green Bay, and see what happens. I think we need to seriously upgrade the OL to make this offense truly potent, however.

No, he was pretty good that year. Maybe they're seeing if Shawn Nelson gets better.

Gonzalez had arguable his bes year if his career in 2008 but it was also has last year in KC. Yet historically TEs have done little in KC's offenses in Dallas, Pittsburgh and Miami.
