This was expected. This is to aligned it with NBC to get more games on TV after the recent NHL TV package agreement. They should have renamed it with the start of the NHL season, not the beginning of the year.

It would be nice if DirecTV would put it down near ESPN rather than in the 600s. Would also be nice if VS put on some better sports.

Actually, let me rephrase...on top of those sports (and the Tour, etc). add in other sports to attract a wider audience. I'd love to see some track, long distance running and swimming events. How come I can see fishing every two hours but have to wait four years to see Michael Phelps or a marathon?

I agree with everything except the marathon part.

because the rednecks who typically watch VS are too homophobic to watch swimming and too racist to watch a bunch of Africans outrun white people in a marathon.

So? If NBC were smart they would rebrand. Drop some of the "redneck" stuff and put on some other niche sports. Make it an outlet for a variety of events.
