Teams as far away as the Bills best tread carefully in free agency. Jacksonville's crowing that it has markedly upgraded its defense by signing a trio of linebackers, one of whom (Paul Posluszny) was generally regarded as no better than average during his time with the Bills. Was that $45 million -- $45 million! -- well-spent or wishful? Aren't the Bills better off with Nick Barnett, Sunday's signing, at $12 million over three?

I agree with the column. But you can't blame the fan base for being a little impatient, given that it's been 11 seasons since the Music City Forward Lateral.

I'm just as impatient as anyone else, but thinking that by going out and signing a bunch of over-priced free agents is going to bring playoffs is wrong.
Nix was hired because he was the oldest guy in the building and thus the one Ralph was most comfortable with.
