Foget about the injury risk. We need to put better players on ST. Those returns were both caused by missed tackles. Don't blame Danny SMith.

AMEN!!!

As I've already noted in another thread -- today in the Titans/Philly game (I live in TN), as soon as Titans ST screwed up and handed Philly a TD, Titans HC Jeff Fisher reassigned some of TN's starters to ST to be sure that didn't happen again.

There is no player on a team too valuable to be used on ST when needed.

They can't get any worse! Even improvement over today will still be horrible unless it is MAJOR improvement.

I still say put some starters on the team. Wire, Jenkins, etc.

We had some...Priloeau...we need guys who can tackle...not just starters...but Jenkins and Wire are good starts...they are guys who can hit and tackle.

yeah, you want London Fletcher, Nate Clements, and Winfield running down the fields 100 MPH and getting their knees taken out??? No, I don't think so

We're not deep enough on D to risk our starters

Maybe they should cut one of the rookies than to make an example to these guys that if they do not do their job they will be replaced.

you'd be a great coach LOL

It's not like they would be cutting an important member of the team BD. These are the 40th to 53rd men on the roster covering these kicks. There are a lot of FA out there that could cover kicks better than these guys did today.
How bout this. To be fair I give them one more week. If no major improvement is seen than ax one or two of em!

They DID have Larry Centers on one kickoff.

Speaking of Centers he was a no show in todays game! If he is not going to be in the game plan why did we keep him?

I don't think it's starters vs. non-starters. I think it's personnel. Charlie Rogers looked terrible on the first one. Isn't he a RETURN specialist? What about Bryson and Morris. They are RB's... I think the team should consist of all defensive players. Backup d-backs and linebackers.

If we had better depth at the backer position I would say put in London Fletcher. He was a special teams demon coming into the league, I believe that he was a ST Captain at one time. Let him go in there and challege people and get them pumped like he does on defense. The only problem, like I said, is that we would be hurting at MLB if he got injured

tasker was a wide receiver. there are offensive players that can tackle. our guys just blew it on sunday, the same way the Jet secondary blew the coverage on eric moulds on 4th and 9 with 30 seconds to play. We were 4th in the league in KO coverage last year (19.0 ave) with the same schemes, strategy and coaches. We just had a couple guys blow it. We'll fix it. I loved what i saw overall.

I tend to agree with you KDog. I am so encouraged after Sunday. Anyone who says Danny Smith should be fired needs their head examined.

Now I couldn't tell if the 4 new aquisitions picked up post 53 man roster cutdown were all on the field on the returns... (some dope kept standing in front of me the whole game)....:D...

But I wonder if purging many of the ST players in the final days ( O'Leary, Jackson, Stevenson, ect... ) had a big impact or not...

anthony denman, subbing for fred jones, i think was on both. he took out two blockers on the overtime runback, doing his job. and had a nice tackle on an earlier return. tuitele was on one of them if i'm not mistaken, the last one, and was blocked but he didnt missed the tackle like Bostic or Prileau did.

Seems to me someone was trying to make that point last week when they swapped out 4 guys. :couch:
