Former Bills safety Donte Whitner has confirmed to me that he has agreed to a 2-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.

After confirming the news to me via text, Whitner had this to say, also via text:
"It was a long wait but I learned a lot from this and it will only Make me a better father, person and football player. Go Bills! 4 Life"

I think Week 4 will be a good chance to get our deep passing game going.

As much as I've bad-mouthed Whitner, I hope he does well.

If we had a tight end, we'd be able to abuse him week 4.

Bad move for him. Bengals pass rush will put him in much the same position he was here.

If their young DL step up he could have a good year.

well he leaves like a champ. with all the crap he gets on twitter, it's nice that he said, "go bills".

on the other hand, it would be so fun to watch him get torched in the week 4 game. 3rd down slot receiver will be open if Whitner is the coverage man

Hope he does well. He didn't suck, but he wasn't what everyone (rightfully) expected from the 8th overall.

Donte Whitner - DB - Bengals Bengals signed SS Donte Whitner to a two-year contract.
Whitner, who just turned 26, will add competition to a Bengals safety position that was projected to produce Reggie Nelson and Chris Crocker as starters. Both Nelson and Crocker are now on notice. Whitner led all NFL defensive backs in tackles (140) last season, and run support has long been his primary strength. Pro Football Focus graded Whitner 70th out of 85 qualifying safeties in coverage. The Bengals should make sure to keep him in the box, playing strong safety across from the winner of the Nelson-Crocker camp battle.

anyway of finding out how much he got?

Reported, by Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News, that it's $4 million/year.

I did not report that, nor do I know.

translation: "I was an arrogant fool to have cleaned out my locker effectively closing off talks with the Bills especially when it turns out the offer that I was so insulted about was better than what I signed for. But in the end I got someone to pay me millions to jump on piles and get torched week after week so it's all good"

Wow, only a 2 year 8 mil deal? That has to be pretty humbling for a player entering his prime and there being a lot of big money out there. Plus he has to play for what I think is going to be the worst team in the league. I bet the Bills original offer was a better deal.

I'm also curious to see him in a different uniform sporting his new tatoo of the Bills logo on his arm. That'll be funny.

I'm sure he'll be a locker room favorite.

I guess old Donte found out that he wasn't anywhere near as valued as he thought he was. I recall he was seeking 7 mil per year, when the Bills reportedly were offering only the 5 mil he took as an insult. Then the season ending locker room cleanout. The Bills probably never pursued him again.

I honestly thought he would get more than 4 mil/year from someone...

Didnt the Bengals sign Nate Clements as well? Guess they are trying to fix the secondary for week 4.

Who's the futon here that clamoring about Dante is top 5 and will make 7-8M per year? Everyone else tried to tell you.

Honestly, cinch was probably the only team to offer that much. Overpay.

Sorry Sal. Donte clearly screwed you over here...49ers must've seen the leaked numbers and came in with a godfather offer for another additional year.
