    Random game musings

    1) whatever shopping around the bills did with Maybin is now officially pointless. No way he makes it past the first round of cuts after last nights " cough" performance
    2) Tyler Thigpen was a train wreck as was Levi Brown
    3) I know it's only preseason, but we should be producing TD's
    4) I cannot remember the last time we had 9 sacks in a single game, but it was preseason and against a Chicago line that makes ours look spectacular
    5) Brad Smith makes this team better.
    6) Saw Easley walking a bit tentatively already, not a good sign
    7) Would like to see Troupe and Carrington get some first team reps next game to get a more accurate picture of where they really are. They were beasts against 2nd and 3rd strings.
8)Dareus is a monster. It may take a year for him to reach his full potential, but even now he's a force.
    9) if Merriman stays healthy we may finally have a defense that is to be feared
    10) loved Barnets hustle
    11) hated watching Kelsay standing there watching the play go by. The spirit of whither lives on
    12) the oline is still an issue (thank you captive obvious)

    13. the defense as a whole moved sideline to sideline faster than last year throughout the whole game..
    14. spiller 2 runs for 3 yards....jackson 3 runs for 18 yards. not much has changed so far.
    15. easley was thoroughly unimpressive.
    16. this is going to be a very long and boring preseason if we don't run anything but short crossing patterns.
    17. i'd gladly hand in a stellar special teams unit if we can have a normal offense and defense.
    18. lights out dance was very uplifting.

What else are we going to run with this QB, particularly when we just gave away our only fast, experienced WR?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

        19. this was so profoundly boring that my heartrate did not increase 1 beat per min.
        20. after listening people say the O was going to faster and more exciting I was suprised at how much sleep I got.
In my day we did not have self-esteem... we had self-respect, and no more of it then we earned.

we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be...
          we shall never surrender...

It's the 1st pre-season game, so it was SHOCKING to see mistakes !

Boring but let's see how we progress through the next 3 practice games.

Hard not to notice the effectiveness of the 1st unit D. Got beat on a couple QB scrambles & draw plays but for the most part, they looked strong against the run and I actually saw a PASS RUSH for the first time since Clinton was President.

Typical boring O, running standard plays to evaluate execution over showing anything. No panic. Hide the real playbook.

Yeah, but it was sad that the offense could not execute the pass at all.

                21. I'd give my left nut for a legit left tackle.

I felt bad for Maybin because its not his fault we were dumb enough to draft him so high and set high expectations. Then i remembered we gave him a 15 mil signing bonus. Robbery

                    22. Lionel Gates should make the team over Shaud Williams
                    23. Barnett is faaaaast, or was Poz just that slow

I think this should become a regular post-game feature.

How scared were you when you saw that reverse developing on the first play? Usually those early plays always go for 10+ against us - especially in a preseason game where you're certainly not expecting it.

I actually saw team speed and NFL-quality pursuit angles and we closed it down. That's something I haven't seen in a while. Nice play by McGee there and a backer was there too to force the play outside.
