Per Billsdaily.com:

Nesbitt Moved: The Bills have decided to move Joshua Nesbitt from quarterback to safety. This move has been anticipated and planned for a while. They were waiting for Tyler Thigpen to get up to speed before making the move. Nesbitt was the fifth quarterback in camp and most teams use four. He did well out of the wildcat offense on Saturday.

Just like I said Nesbitt is a DB in the NFL never was going to be a RB or WR.

Practice squad at S > being cut at QB

I smell more Gailey offensive trickery here. Nesbitt looked very good Saturday, albeit against 3rd and 4th stringers. If Gailey can stash yet another offensive weapon at a backup DB position, why not?

The guy has one legit skill, running with the football.

but George Wilson did it.

Yet he is a S right now.

That is incorrect, anybody who saw him in HS knew he has DB skills. He was recruited by more than a few DI schools as a S. Gailey knew this from when he was recruiting Nesbitt.

You are talking about High School five years ago.

I won't be holding my breath looking to see if he makes the final roster, but it has been done before and I think B. Scott might be on his way out.

He doesn't have to start to make the roster. We have Scott and Wilson starting, so basically he's competing with Searcy and Corto for a backup spot.

i liked Nesbitt's performance. if moving him around helps keep him a week or two more to see how he performs, i'm all for this move.

I don't expect him to be a superstar, but i think he's a bullet for our arsenal.

Whether a safety or wildcat specialist, he most likely ends up on the PS. Where he ends up after that is going to depend on circumstances. If Brad Smith has a season or career ending injury, Nesbitt will get activated and move back to wildcat specialist. If Buffalo has a run of injuries at safety, Nesbitt gets activated for that. If everyone stays healthy, he remains a PS guy until he gets a better option.

tiger, the risk is that someone snags him of PS leaving us without his potential services.

So? Is someone in desperate need of a safety because of injury going to sign a guy with no experience? Probably not. If someone wants him as an option QB let them have him, Bills just gave a big contract to Smith to fill that role.

i think teams keep track of seeming high althetic guys that are raw and hope that their coaching staff can make that guy a weapon. i can see someone having a bit of tape and wherewithal to want to try and take nesbitt. especially a more established team like say the colts.

Those guys were rumored to have an eye on fred jackson if the bills had cut him back in the day.

Longshot, but does this move free up a spot for Terrelle Pryor as Brad Smith's wildcat/slasher understudy?

Curious timing....we do have two roster spots open....

This kid has no chance to make the regular roster regardless of what position they list him at on the depth chart, but he can be pretty valuable on the practice squad.

To me he appears to be a scout team all star.
