Chuck Schumer: "I made it my passion to keep the Bills in Buffalo."

In the wake of the new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the NFL Players Association, Schumer wanted to make sure it wouldn't hurt a small market team like Buffalo. Schumer went right to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for an answer. The two talked about a week ago.

Schumer said he came away from the conversation convinced the near CBA will help the Bills on two fronts. First, the revenue sharing provision that allocates funds from large market teams like the Dallas Cowboys to small market teams like the Bills will remain in place.

Secondly, the provision remains in effect for the next 10 years.

"That's all good news for keeping the Bills in Buffalo," Schumer said.
Nothing we didn't really know about the CBA already, but nice to see Schumer still keeping tabs on the Bills' situation.

I'm like most people who dislike politicians but I met this guy in Rochester a year ago and had a nice talk with him. Extremely nice man who came from humble roots in the Bronx.

I brought up the Bills, the estate tax, future after Ralph etc. He said the estate tax is 'negotiable " and he will never stop working towards keeping the Bills here. Said plenty of local suitors would step forward and I believe him. He doubts they'll be going anywhere. He then talked about sports in general and wasn't the least bit stuffy. Very relaxed and easy to speak to.

He's in our corner and swings a big bat. Well connected.

As a Conservative Republican, I would tend to agree. But Schumer seems to be genuinely interested in the Bills and the the city of Buffalo in genaral, so I give him major kudos for his support.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

He's smart enought to know that the common, little people need their football and won't pay attention to anything else. Meanwhile he helps push the left wing socialist agenda as no one notices. How's the job market, taxes, growth, and regulations up there already? Don't be played a fool by this guy. Listen to what he says when he doesn't know he's on the camera. He's a classic example of why we need term limits.

Like I said, this has nothing to do with his politics. (I'm certainly NOT a Liberal) .

This is about influence & connections.

I would like to know when "liberal" became a dirty word. Or socialist, for that matter. It seems that so many people are caught up on labels and talking points pushed at them that they have no reasoning of their own.

Elected officials SHOULD be looking out for the interests of their constituents in particular weighing that against the interests of their country as a whole. In this instance, it has nothing to do with the country, but EVERYTHING to do with his constituents. He knows that if the Bills left WNY, there is a good chance that WNY would lose a whole lot more people than they are already losing as well as any revenue that the team brings in.

A politician doing anything good is going to be self serving. But only a cynic would see that as the only reason for a politician to do anything good at all. I don't know about Schumer one way or the other, but him pushing to keep the Bills here is good all the way around in my book, and I don't care if it is self serving.

It's much like Congressman Brian Higgins (D) of Buffalo. For all I know, he may have sold his soul but he's made Waterfront development his mission and he's getting incredible results.

Schumer seems passionate about the Bills staying in WNY. Good for him.
