TAMPA - Bucs defensive tackle Anthony McFarland, an emerging star entering the final year of his contract, is optimistic he will report to training camp July 18 with a new deal.
McFarland, 25, is scheduled to earn a base salary of $2.25 million this fall. Because of a broken forearm and a fractured foot, he played in only two of Tampa Bay's final 13 games during the Bucs' Super Bowl run.
``I'd like to get this behind me before we go to Orlando,'' McFarland said Tuesday at a Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce luncheon. ``I think we can work things out in the next few weeks.'' ...more
