So, Pryor, who is suspended for 5 games, is worth more than Lee Evans is...

Seriously. Why wouldn't Al Davis give us a 2nd rounder for Evans? Was he asleep during the trade talks?

Well, either A: Evans didn't have a 40 time that Al liked...

Raiders drafted players with fastest 40 times at the past 3 combines -- DeMarcus Van Dyke, Jacoby Ford, Darrius Heyward-Bey -- plus Pryor.

Or B: Because they have already traded their 2nd rounder to New England... They actually don't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rounder next year now...

For ther 2nd, 3rd and 4th-rd pick in 2012, Raiders now have QB Jason Campbell, QB Terrelle Pryor, RB Taiwan Jones and OL Joseph Barksdale.

Al Davis must have thought he was taking Richard Pryor.

Well, as much as I dislike Pryor's chances in the NFL and disliked the Lee Evans trade, I don't know that because he spent the 3rd on pryor that he would spend a 2nd on Evans.

First, as dumb as Al may be sometimes, there really is nobody out there who would give up a 2nd rounder for a player at his position who is over 30. Nobody.

Second, even though Evans is a proven commodity in this league (though how proven seems to be debatable), he is just that: Proven.

Pryor, for all the doom-and-gloom surrounding his chances as an NFL QB (doom and gloom I agree with) still has that magical "upside" thing going for him, and that always will raise Al's eyebrows. Lee's upside, while probably still there with a solid QB and Boldin across from him, is what it is.

Finally, I think it's questionable to assume the BIlls didn't try and get more for Evans. If it were a salary dump (which I don't think it was due to the relatively small amount of salary saved in the trade), then there is still no reason for the Bills not to maximize the value from that trade. It won't cost them that much more between a 3rd rounder or an earlier 4th rounder in terms of salary, so it's not like money decided they wanted a 4th rounder.

Sometimes, the market is what it is, as hard as it is for us to not want it to be.

Nothing surprises me after the '11 draft, everyone's desperate for a QB.

Davis probably figured a team like Buffalo would offer up a 4th and a 3rd is the only thing left to do If you really want the guy.

Plus, Oakland didn't have a 2nd or a 4th, so they had to take him in the 3rd or they wouldn't be able to pick again until the 5th.

Pryor would be gone in the 5th so it had to be the 3rd,

I Wonder If the move cost Trent Edwards a spot on the roster

Most people expect the Raiders to recoup most of those mid round picks via comp selections. They lost TE Zach Miller and Nnamdi.

And the thing is, there is no market.
The only factor in a trade or supp draft or whatever is what that team wanted to pay for that player.
No transaction at any time for any other player is relevant. There are no rules, no guidelines, no Kelly blue book for NFL moves.

Wow. Color me surprised. Glad he didn't end up here and Pryor will be out of the league by the end of his rookie contract.

Is Prior going to be a wide receiver or tight end?

I know it's really hard for us to believe sometimes, but most media folk place the Raiders on a level of futility of their own. Things aren't good here, but the Raiders are on a different plane of dysfunction. Right when they got things turned around they fired the coach? I mean, sheesh.

You really think a 3rd is to high???
The way I look at it Cam Newton was the #1 pick and he has all the intagibles that Pryor has......
Cam has a better arm but the same type of players.....
