    Paul G. Allen Announces new CEO for Seattle Seahawks

    Seattle - Seattle Seahawks NFL franchise owner Paul G. Allen today announced the appointment of Tod Leiweke, as chief executive officer of the Seattle Seahawks. Leiweke, president and chief operating officer of the Minnesota Wild NHL team, begins his transition into the position as CEO of the Seattle Seahawks today and is anticipated to begin full-time responsibilities at the end of July. As CEO, Leiweke will assume responsibility for all business operations, sales and marketing, sponsorship, administration and operations functions of the franchise. In addition, he will oversee First and Goal Inc., the organization that manages Seattle Seahawks Stadium and Exhibition Center for the state of Washington. Leiweke spearheads the business side of the Seahawks and will work in partnership with Bob Whitsitt, who, as president, will focus his duties on football operations.     Seahawks get down to business

    New CEO Leiweke brought in to renew interest in team
    The Seattle Seahawks yesterday bolstered their off-field lineup to go along with the host of on-field moves already made in an action-packed off-season.

    The edict from owner Paul Allen is the same on both accounts: return winning, crowd-pleasing NFL football to Seattle and fill Seahawks Stadium.

    "We need to step up here and make some improvements," a candid and hopeful Allen told a news conference at the stadium yesterday.

      Seahawks aiming to recapture your fancy

      You'd think that Paul Allen -- investor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, sports-team owner and all-around high-tech dude -- would have come up with a whizbang way to measure excitement.

      But Allen's stake in more than 50 technology and media companies was of little help in gauging the exhilaration at Seahawks Stadium yesterday as he introduced the new chief executive officer of one of his many holdings, the Seattle Football Seahawks.

      Allen said he was excited.

      Tod Leiweke, the new CEO, said he was excited.
