Kicking off at the 35 yd. line! move the ball back to the 25 and KO from there especially in our stadium.

Fans want to see Kickoff returns not touchbacks!

I agree it sucks. On the flipside, I am not confident in DeHaven as our ST coach.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with BB. Move the extra point further out or go for 2 pt conversion instead.

Can't agree with this. Statistics show injuries happen often on KR. This is about safety and as much as dislike it, I cant say it needs to go away.

Goodell may or not be evil , but I was under the assumption that the NFL rules committee was responsible for the change .
For what it's worth, I don' like it either.
They're hindering the chances for seeing some of the most exciting plays of the game.

Pussified NFL. 14 padded practices for the entire regular season. No kick returns. Can barely touch the QB, no hitting a defenseless receiver. Starting to lose interest.

What really needs to disappear is the new every touch down reviewed thing. It just slows the game down, and when a touch down is obvious, it just makes the refs look foolish. JMO

hummmm. I go back a bit further (per-1974 I believe), when the kickoff was at the 40. Because touchbacks had become increasingly common, it was moved back to the 35, and to the 30 in the earlier 90's. Those rule changes were to keep the excitement of the KR in the game. Alas, now to be an era gone by.....

I don't want to see another Kevin Everett...and you asked like an *******, so the answer is no.

He's the devil is disguise? Does he live at Heartbreak Hotel? Here I though he was nothing but a Hound Dog...must have been his Blue Suede Shoes.

That's some weak sauce.

Takes away from the explosiveness of the game and leaves ST play one dimensional and inept.

Teams need to start pooch kicking the ball.

I agree! They took away one of the most exciting plays in a football game and basically made it pointless. Most teams are just going to have their kicker kick the crap out of it, so it goes out of the end zone now. It really sucks!

Can't remember the last football game I watched where someone was injured on a kickoff.

I don't think it's as common as some like to think it is, but I have no 'official stats' to back it up.

I don't like the rule because it takes some of the excitement out of the game for me as a fan.

I was going to make a post on this too. The new kickoff line is just plain stupid and it takes any excitement out of the kickoffs. Just about everything will be touchbacks.

It added excitement and strategy to the game when you gave up a score and you were hoping for a good kickoff return to answer back with some momentum or vice versa.

If they are going to keep it at the 35 then they might as well just not even have the kickoffs and start each drive at the 20 or whatever they determine. To make this rule because you are worried about injuries is ridiculous. This is professional football and not the midget leagues. They can still get injured running down the field and blocking each other so just scrap the kickoffs altogether if that's what they are so worried about. It would also save on time. Like Belicheck said why have wasted or useless plays? That's all the kickoff is now.

Special teams brings more excitement and strategy to the game. That part is worthless now if you are going to be kicking off from the 35. There isn't a kicker who can't reach the endzone from there most of the time and many who can kick it right out of the back of the endzone everytime now. Even if for some reason it is shorter the kickoff team is down the field so fast now there isn't much of a chance for a return.

You can say goodbye ST specialist like Cribbs and coverage guys who make the team based on their ST abilities or guys who aren't quite ready to play yet and they get groomed and learn the game while they are playing special teams.

The NFL is becoming so wussified they might as well put flags on and make it flag football.

On the flip side, it gives us more time to get to the head and back after scoring plays.
