    Backup jobs are up for grabs
    Green Bay - Entering training camp, the Green Bay Packers would seem to be feeling pretty comfortable about their situation at running back.

    With solid veteran starter Ahman Green returning and second-year halfbacks Najeh Davenport and Tony Fisher showing promise last season, the Packers have what appears to be a talented, young trio of players at the position. Having all three players get at least one start in 2002 also showed the team had confidence in each player.

    But as injuries took their toll last season, the Packers were exposed as lean and vulnerable at running back, particularly late in the year. Perhaps to protect themselves against injury and invoke some competition in training camp, the team signed veteran Lamar Smith during their June minicamp.
