Figured we might as well have a thread where people post cuts that are of interest to you, me, or the Bills. Listed by position (per request) and former team is in parentheses. Comments added.

QB
Drew Willy (Jets) - former QB at UB

RB
Tyrell Sutton (Panthers) - solid kid, good runner caught in numbers game

OT
Pat McQuistan (Titans) - experienced, used to be on Dolphins, started a few games for them
Nevin McCaskill (Jets) - used to be on Steelers also
Renardo Foster (Rams) - big swing tackle
George Foster (Saints)
Jordan Black (Saints)

TE
Joey Haynos (Jaguars) - blocking specialist
Cornelius Ingram (Eagles) - receiver, lots of injuries though

DT
John McCargo (Bucs) - former Bill

LB
Tyrone McKenzie (Bucs) - former Pats draft pick
Mario Harvey (Steelers) - popular UDFA from this year
Prescott Burgess (Ravens) - ST-er

CB
Ellis Lankster (Jets) - former Bill

S
Coy Wire (Atlanta) - former Bill
Myron Rolle (Tennessee) - former Rhodes Scholar from Florida State

A solid depth OL pickup would be a jouyous move.

maybe you could use this thread as they are cut but listing them by position :idunno:

I nominate Palladin warrior to do the updates.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but there is no way it will be good enough. You need to remember that if we sign any player that was cut; he is terrible, and we are pulling off of the scrap heap.

I know it is hard for some of us not to get excited, but we have to remember that being a negative ******* is far more important. It would be nice if they didn't sign anybody...we just cry about that. Remember to stay unified in your message!

Some of those scraps could still be better than what we have on the 2nd team. Our OL especially at back up really blows.

I'm pretty sure the deadline is tomorrow afternoon. Some teams are just getting it done earlier.

I said depth... you know someone better then a Wrotto or Howard....

I was being a smart ass... I agree with you 100%. I just meant that it doesn't matter who they get, the masses will be bemoaning the pick up, even if it helps the team.

I don't think there is any way that we can afford to not go after some help.

To be honest with you, I usually don't get all caught up in the hype, but I think Thigpen might need to be replaced. He was worse than bad the last couple games.

Atlanta cut S/LB Coy Wire.

Houston cut LB Xavier Adibi. That is a surprise to me, but I guess he is a casualty of the switch to a 3-4 look under Wade Philllips.

Adibi is injury plagued, but wouldn't mind him in a Bills uni.

As I wash my Coy Wire jersey, I wonder... "why, why the hell did I purchase this?"

And the most surprising of all I think is Myron Rolle... That kid was good.

Smart, but a little too slow. Kid ran a 4.8 at the combine, I believe. That's great for an offensive lineman but bad for a safety.

You don't think we have the right to bemoan either way?

It is what it is. Either we take players not good enough for other teams' 53-man rosters because they are good enough for ours, or we continue to fail to address the OL properly.

I watched him at KC for a few years. He was Carl Peterson's golden boy, supposed to have been the heir apparent to Trent Green. They would always talk about how high they were on him, but the O was always worse when he was in there.

Well, he followed in Greens footsteps alright, INJURED.

The Rams cut OT Renardo Foster, who was their swing tackle a year ago (started 1 game). He is a big kid (6-7, 340#) with ability to play both LT and RT.

He came into the NFL undrafted in 2007 out of Louisville and bounced around several teams (ATL, STL, NO) as well as the UFL. He isn't a guy who is going to develop into a long-term solution. He isn't the most fleet-of-foot guy, but he is a big guy who has some experience. Probably a better run blocker than pass blocker, not a guy you are going to isolate on a top pass-rusher without given some help.

Rams cut LB Zac Diles as well.

Carolina cut RB Tyrell Sutton. He is an NFL player and could help somebody. Car is loaded at RB (DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Mike Goodson), so Sutton got caught up in a numbers game.

Sutton is good in the passing game, so he can play on all 3 downs. Short, squat build (5-8, 215#), with low center of gravity and strong legs that allows him to break tackles. Not fast, but has good quickness and is an aggressive runner. Has been productive in brief playing time in the last couple years. His versatility is a big asset, he is an all-purpose type guy.

Ickybaluky

The Ravens cut LB Prescott Burgess, a very good ST player.

It seems several good ST-type players are being cut this year. That probably is due to the new kickoff rule, which means teams will be covering fewer kickoffs.

I liked this kid at Northwestern and when he played some for Panthers. I like his ability, think he could be a good addition here if we didn't have some interesting prospects ourselves that the coaches seem to like.

Sorry, guys, I probably shouldn't have been the one to start this thread. I've got friends over today and tomorrow morning and Penn State football to watch. One of the mods can edit the post if people are adding more to the thread.

STL also cut WR Marty Gilyard. Another top ST performer. The new kickoff rule is having an effect on vet ST'ers, IMO.

I think he's been injured. coming out of college he was a desean jackson type player.

I think he's been injured. coming out of college he was a desean jackson type player.

He isn't as fast as Jackson, more like a 4.5 guy. He was only drafted a year ago and was a core ST-er for them last year, playing on all their ST units. I'm a little surprised he was cut because of that and there probably is more to the story.

Dallas cut DE Igor Olshansky. He would be a nice fit as a veteran backup DE on a 3-4 team. Dallas overpaid him and made him a starter, but he is more of a rotational guy. I could see them bringing him back at shorter money.

Baltimore cut Tavares Gooden, a talented ILB. Gooden's biggest problem is he can't stay healthy, going all the way back to his Miami days. If healthy, someone will pick him up.

FB Chris Gronkowski (DAL), TE Dan Gronkowski (DET) (both Buffalo guys) and DT Gabe Watson all cut.

Bet the Jets jump on Tavares Gooden. He reportedly got cut after refusing a paycut with Ravens.

Chester Taylor finally cut by Chicago. He looked washed up last year.

Used to be on the BILLS also, he had a couple shots with the BILLS.
Also with the Eagles, Packers, Dolphins, Titans and 2 tours with the Jets. This guy has really been around.

Pats cut Brandon Meriweather.

Not a surprise if you have been watching them this preseason, but it makes you wonder what is going on at S. They apparently tried to trade him but couldn't.

The question is, is Sergio Brown or Josh Barrett now starting at S? They must have something in mind, maybe signing Darren Sharper?

Both guys are freelancers, so they may be too similar. Meriweather didn't fit in NE because they required players to be very disciplined in their responsibilities.

Meriweather is very talented, but he makes a lot of mistakes. He is capable of big plays, but he also gets out of position and takes bad angles sometimes. The lack of consistency is why he was cut, because it never got better.
