All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

Gaughans Buff News Article This Morning Very Telling
Re: Gaughans Buff News Article This Morning Very Telling
I wouldn't be surprised to see McGee, Spencer Johnson and Hangartner gone. They are basically expensive backups on a team where money enters the equation more than it does with successful teams.
I guess Kelsay stays because of his pictures of Ralph with the donkey.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Those are our best players? No wonder we suck! As much as I think the Bills are cheap I have no problem with them cutting McGee. Get rid of Kelsay and Hangartner too.

The problem is, we're more likely to keep Kelsay and dump Spencer Johnson. Cutting McGee I don't mind, either, but Hangartner is a valuable backup at both center and guard.
I'll be intersted to see the correlation of cuts to contracts.

I thought this quote would get more play:
"From a league perspective, cash to cap has been the norm for several years," said Bills Chief Executive Officer Russ Brandon. "Mortgaging the future prematurely is not a smart way to manage your business. We look at cash to cap as a roster-discipline tool. It is not a budget tool. It's our commitment to try to have long-term sustained success."
If the way they manage their cap is their commitment to long-term sustained success you might wonder if it is working.

In general, any cuts done now will save money this year, in both cash and cap terms, but there will be dead money cap charges next year for any acceleration for remaining signing bonus.
