If Buffalo's defense continues to show improvement like they did last week, who gets the credit for it? The players, Edwards or Wannstedt? I'm sure it's some combination to varying degrees of all three, but I just wanted to see what you all think. I am curious as to how much input Wannstedt has each week on the defensive game plans.

We certainly have better personnel with Dareus, Merriman, Barnett, a healthy Edwards and Davis, an improved Carington, etc., etc. This is also the 2nd year of Edwards' schemes, which has to help.

Don't know how much input Wanny has, but he's a helluva defensive coach. He has to be a help to Edwards.

Generally, though, good players make coaches look better.

wanny has to be a big help for edwards and the overall gameplan on d. also dareus and williams in the middle create so much havoc its hard for an o to get things going...

I wouldn't be surprised if Wanny helps Edwards improve his gameplanning. I hated the way Edwards ran his defense last year, and while we haven't seen much of it this year, it looked better in the preseason at the least.

In the end, though, the personnel makes a huge difference.

There didn't seem like there was a whole lot of scheming going on against KC. They just put the bum rush on by the hosses in the middle mostly.

Let's see how the unit performs the next couple of weeks. This upcoming week will be a test for the Run D, then the next week will be a true barometer for everyone, Edwards/Crooked Stache/Personnel.

If they find a way to win the next two games, then we'll know we're on to something.

certain coaches do put a premium on tackling. That sounds so stupid to write, but i think wanny probably emphasizes the tackling as well as the gameplanning. you can know the plays, but if you aren't going to make the tackle on the first contact, you aren't doing your job.

Some teams miss that.

but i think we have a seasoned play caller in barnett instead of poz. we have a speedier group of LB's and the middle is just stout now.
