Buffalo Bills guard against overconfidence as Oakland Raiders visit

Nick Barnett has been a member of the Bills for less than two months, so he really doesn't have a clue what has gone on in Buffalo during the miserable, ongoing 11-year playoff drought. But one thing he noticed Monday morning, one day after a resounding 41-7 thrashing of Kansas City in the season opener, is that the Bills came to their practice facility all business, fully aware that what's done is done, and it was time to move on.

THE PICK: With these two teams playing bruising defense Week 1, we don’t expect the scoreboard operator at Ralph Wilson Stadium to be that busy. But the Bills have more playmakers on offense, and the Raiders are going cross country after a Monday Night contest. Bills go to 2-0. Buffalo (-3) 16, Oakland 10.

Young Bills not below the radar anymore

"It caught everybody’s attention around the league, any time you can go on the road and have a victory like that," Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly said. "What they did was a nice, impressive victory, but they’ve got to deal with us now. And we ain’t the Chiefs."

Buffalo Bills brace to face run-run Oakland Raiders in home opener

Chan Gailey has devised enough offensive game plans in his day — remember the Kordell Stewart “Slash” offense in Pittsburgh of the mid-1990s? — to appreciate a good power running attack when he sees one. So all it took was one glimpse at the big, bruising, run, run, and run it again Raiders’ approach to pounding the ball to leave Buffalo’s coach more than impressed.
