Eddie Olczyk tabbed one of his old coaches to fill out his own staff.

The Pens named former Chicago Blackhawks coach Lorne Molleken an assistant Friday. Molleken, who has 10 years of head coaching experience at the NHL, AHL and major junior levels, joins Randy Hillier and Joe Mullen on coach Olczyk's staff.

Olczyk played under Molleken when the 47-year-old worked with the Blackhawks from 1998-2000. Molleken served as both assistant coach and coach for the Blackhawks, posting an 18-21-8 mark in parts of two seasons at the helm.

Molleken also has been an assistant with the San Jose Sharks.

"Lorne's vast experience in coaching at all levels makes him a perfect fit for me and our team," said Olczyk, who was named coach earlier this month after spending three seasons as a broadcaster for Pittsburgh.

"He's a rock-solid guy, he has a tremendous ability to work and communicate with young people and his experience as a goaltender brings a unique dimension to our staff. Lorne coached me in Chicago and was one of the best coaches I ever had."
