Definitely a possibility...but if he wasn't a Patriot, he wouldn't have a chance. The guy did next to nothing in Miami, but as soon as he teams up with Tom Brady (the greatest QB ever IMO) he becomes a HOF candidate.

Didn't Welker have 70 receptions in Miami before New England got him? And that was as their third receiver... he also put up 110+ catches with Cassel. I think the system in New England definitely benefits him by using his strengths, but I think he's proven that he's more than just a product of Brady, unlike the David Pattens and Deion Branchs

He did have 60 some I think, but only one touchdown if I remember correctly. The guy didn't become a superstar until he had Brady throwing to him.

It's definitely the case that he walked into the right situation at the right time for him. Anywhere else in a different system and he's probably a marginal player. That's not to discredit his accomplishments... I think that statement is true for many players. It's the chicken and the egg debate: are we drafting that poorly OR are we not developing our players properly?
