While he's been encouraged by his progress, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney
Crosby will miss the team's season opener against the Vancouver Canucks next Thursday
night.

"No. I wouldn’t expect it, no," Crosby told reporters Saturday
when asked if there was a realistic chance he would be ready for the Oct. 6
showdown at Rogers Arena. "I don’t think so."

Crosby hasn't played since
January due to a concussion, but he has been skating with his teammates since
training camp opened on Sept. 17. However, he still has not been cleared for
contact.

Little ***? One of the hardest players to play against, and most dominant players in the league. He's a great spokesman for the game and extremely entertaining to watch. I hope he comes back soon.

I'm sure part of the reason people don't "check" or "touch" him as much as other players is because of the level of respect he's earned league-wide.

I hate Crosby as much as anyone.

Ask most players in the league and they'll tell you he, along with Datsyuk, is the hardest player in the league to play against. Claude Giroux was saying it to my buddy, when he saw him while in Philly, and I've heard it in other player interviews. But all you really have to do is open your eyes and watch him play.

You can dislike him and still respect his level of talent.
