KIRKLAND, WASH. -- Since this is a pro football story, and since pro football is an unofficial religion in our country, and since Matt Hasselbeck is a faithful person, it seems almost natural to relate what he underwent last October to a spiritual revival. Have you ever attended a worship service and swore the minister or the priest or the rabbi was speaking to you and had your life changed by his or her words? Well, something along those lines happened last year in Hasselbeck's professional life. All it did was deliver his career in Seattle from damnation.



The teacher that fateful October day was Seahawks quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn. The congregation included Hasselbeck, then-starter Trent Dilfer, and others. The place: the quarterbacks' meeting room. Their world spiraling toward destruction (1-5), the QBs past and present were studying film in preparation for Seattle's next opponent (Dallas), Zorn putting his laser pointer to use on one of his players, when Hasselbeck was given a revelation....
