I might add that for probably the first time of his career in NFL, there are some noise of challenge for his position.
I will say that Kelsay has improved a great deal from last year. In fact earlier on he might be the Bills top dog for pass rush. But the fact remains that he's more suited to play 4-3 and is still a liability at coverage.
Merriman is here to stay. He's a Nix's guy and he's getting better every week with his limited plays. They finally moved Moats to the outside and now they cannot move him back in. If he continues to impress at OLB position, he will give coaches serious consideration to take over Kelsay's spot.
I know Kelsay has signed an extension to 2015 last year. He'll be 32 next year. I'd not bet on he's still with the Bills when he's 33.
