View Full Version : LeBron James in NFL?

It's not in the realm of probability, but then Michael
Jordan did give baseball a try. So is LeBron James really interested in the NFL
while pro basketball lollygags in lockout land?
James added more fuel to the fire Tuesday by
posing a question about the NFL deadline for signing free agents on a pro football
writer’s Twitter account (http://twitter.com/#!/KingJames/status/123833001074376704).

"When is the deadline for a team to sign a free
agent?" James asked ESPN's John Clayton on Tuesday in a tweet.

The Eagles would be an even better fit...Both losers are made for each other.

I guess his summer job at McDonald's not paying him enough.

Clayton suggested that he look at the Bills.

And yes, I'm sure he's just looking for attention.

He's still making more during the lockout than anyone on this forum will make in their lives... unless Pegula is a poster here.

I was just making a jab at his McDonald's commercials and seemed to fit.

How does that work? Wouldn't he need to go through the draft first? Or could anyone simply skip the draft and sign as a free agent after a year or two?

Not a big fan of LeBron but i would be very interested in seeing him line up at wr. Dude is a genetic beast and basketball players are said to be the most athletic players of all the major pro sports

But let's keep up this thought experiment and say LeBron wasn't being facetious and intentionally trying to bait the media into writing about him (well-played, LeBron). If he did, where would be the best place for him?
1. Philadelphia Eagles (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/phi/) defensive coordinator -- He has just as much experience in the position as Juan Castillo did entering the season. And he could provide veteran leadership in how not to win a title.
2. Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/dal/) quarterback -- If anyone can make the criticism of Tony Romo (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6624/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6624/news) pale in comparison, it's LeBron. Can you imagine how amazing those fourth quarters would be? The Cowboys could feasibly blow a 42-point lead with that combination. Plus, nobody loves a front-runner like Mr. James.
3. Cleveland Browns (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/cle/) tight end -- How long would it take Cleveland fans to forgive LeBron if he came back to the city as part of the football team? Three seconds? Two?

Another reason why Twitter sucks.

All the guy did was ask a question.

If I were a celebrity, I'd just use Twitter to **** with people all day. The media and the braindead masses overreact to anything that anyone who is remotely famous posts on there.

"

No one here is taking his tweeter seriously. The responses bear that out. For the most part the absurdity of the whole thing is humorous.
Unclench those butt muscles ,take a pill ,and enough of being critical of everything YOU can find to pick at !

the fact that anyone is discussing it- the fact that any of us even know about it- is an overreaction. I'll stop being critical when people pull their heads out of their asses and stop giving me things to criticize.

touche, although I would hope I could be a little funnier and more clever than Donte Twit-ner.

I would definitely use his weekly "threaten to leave Twitter forever but then return the next day" tactic, though.

LeBron has always been very open to the idea of one day playing football. He loved playing it in HS and always insisted if he didnt go pro in the NBA he would of done it in football.

I believe he has multiple BCS schools offer him football scholarships. Not that he needed it.

He'd be a hell of a TE.

Heh - years ago, somebody asked Scotty Bowman if he would like to have Wilt Chamberlain play for him. Scotty said no - too tall, couldn't get a legal stick on the ice.

I always thought that Wilt could have been the greatest NFL receiver ever.

7 feet 1 inch tall, 275 lb+, huge hands, and tremendous speed - he could run with guards. Folks don't remember how fast he was. I put Wilt solidly in the top five athletes of all time, regardless of sport.

Even if this had any validity...James to Cleveland as a Tight End? Pssh.

The Browns recently extended Evan Moore.

Okay now I understand where you mind is at. Because the twitter was even acknowledged and being discussed , you feel our making light of it was an "overreaction " SO....you think WE have our heads in our asses ? gotcha !

did you even read this thread? There are a hell of a lot more people taking it seriously than making light of it.

ok not trying to get OP anymore annoyed at this topic, but....

i know there is no deadline for FA's to sign with teams. having said that, would Lebron be a FA, or would he have to wait and enter through the draft, seeing as he never declared himself eligable?

it's not the topic that annoys me- it's the fact that the basis for the topic is an inference by the media based on a tweet.

Pete Caroll is publicly dating LeBron. look for yourself and tell me that's not even NOTEWORTHY for a sports fan.

He'd have to go through the draft process just as Drew Henson did years back.

I'd love to see him in a Dolphins uniform, and the multiples times he gets completely lit up.
