All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
I guess Searcy's unknown injury meant they want to keep Wheatley for another week.
On the other side of the coin, they must felt good about Roosevelt who I must admit did a great job under pressure last week.
Still, I feel Chan must be working on something with either Brad Smith and/or CJ Spiller for deep routes. He's too smart to not to have at least a threat of that element in an offense.

Since half this board has identified the lack of speed and opportunity to further utilize Smith and Spiller I am guessing Chan has thought about it too.
As long as the defense can keep the Giants offense in check I expect a heavy dose of Fred Jackson.
Wait till the bye week. I think Chan wants to see how Roosevelt, Spiller, etc. fill the void before making any roster cuts.

Personally, I don't see why the Bills should be in any sort of state of panic because Jones is out. If it were a season ending injury, then we are talking a totally different scenario. I wouldn't expect the Bills to make any significant moves. Jones could possibly be back in time for Washington, if not the following week. The backups are just going to have to step up in the mean time. In a way, he picked the right time to have that type of injury with the bye week coming up. JMO
I don't think he is. I don't know his 40 time, but I'd be surprised if he can do it in under 4.5
Brad Smith had a 4.46, 40 time. In comparison, Santonio Holmes ran a 4.45 (5'11" 192lbs), Roscoe Parrish 4.37 (5'9" 170lbs), Desean Jackson 4.35 (5' 10" 175lbs), Devon Hester 4.27 (5' 11" 192lbs).
Biggest difference is that Smith towers over the list above. He's 6' 2" 212 lbs. That's pretty damn fast for a guy his size and its his burst that's so dangerous to opposing defenses.
Other comparisons of WRs that stretch the field:
Plaxico Burress: 4.56 6' 5" 232lbs
Mike Wallace: 4.33 6' 0" 199lbs
Darrius Heyward-Bey: 4.30 6' 2" 210lbs
AJ Green: 4.5 6' 4" 211lbs

I think the biggest concern is the type of injury. High ankle sprain could have him side lined much longer than the 4-6 week projection.
