Craig Rivet is playing for Elmira of the ECHL

    ...making $21,000 a year.

No link, just saw it on NHLN.

And this guy was our captain earlier this year....

Don't see anything wrong with it if that is what he wants to do.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it.

It's indicative of several things though:

-how quickly age caught up with Rivet
-how bad our previous FO was with FA's
-how different things are for us now. We went from a veteran FA at the end of his career as captain to a home-grown longtime Sabre in the prime of his career as captain.

I know the owner doesn't take part in day-to-day hockey decisions, but I have a hard time believing a big FA acquisition who was awarded the C spending half the season as a healthy scratch would be tolerated under Pegula.

He was OK when he first got here, but yes, he declined very fast.

I still am not overly enamored with the pick of captain, but am ok with it.

He wasn't awarded the captaincy as much as voted it by the team. Tell me how THAT must be for a team to pick somebody who wasn't even on the team yet.

Yeah, I heard a week or so ago he was sent down there. A lot of guys probably would not be willing to do it, so for that I give him credit.

Regier still has a nack for signing *Former* Top Players instead of *Current*/*Recent* Good Players..

Like who in the past year?

Leino and Ehroff are in the prime of their careers.

Regher might be a little past, but only has two years left on his deal.

Boyes is a *Former* 40 Goal scorer.

Rivet is a *Former* Top Defensemen like 9 years ago.

Leino is 50/50. He's young and shows spurts (ala Timbo w/o the injuries).

                  Erhoff , Good
                  Regher, Good

Rivet was acquired more than a year ago.

Boyes was a cheap pick up.
