FL's fearless Predictions: Bye Week Edition

You've heard of Frank Calliendo (sp?) and other pig skin prognosticators, and now you'll hear from me, every week.

Here's my predictions (some of them bold) for this weekend on the gridiron.

1.) The Falcons will beat the Lions by double digits and things will start to unravel in Detroit. They will be exposed of what they actually are. A 9-10 win team, if everything goes right.

2.) The Fins will get their first win.

3.) Carolina will upset the Redskins

4.) Carson Palmer will throw for 300 yards and 4 Tds as the Raaaiddas destroy the Chefs, and Raider Nation goes bananas.

5.) The Vikings will hand Green Bay their first loss of the season.

My lead pipe lock this week? Dallas. I'd take them in your survival pool, and bet the farm on them. There's no way they lose this week.

I don't thin Carolina winning will be an upset exactly. I like the look of their team this year.

Is Detroit going to be exposed like the Bills have been?

Vikings are always tough against the Pack.

I don't know about Dallas. They are so up and down, they may get caught by the Rams.

I like the Vikes for a few reasons. The game is at home, where they generally play well. McNabb isn't going to be the QB, and Adrian Peterson. The Packers D has given up a bit of yardage and points this season. I like the Vikes to run the crap out of the ball and control the game.

The Lions are a good team, don't get me wrong. They shouldn't have been 5-0, however. Best is out, the Ronnie Brown deal fell through, so all they have left is Mo Morris. I think Stafford is in for a beating this week, and I think Matt Ryan will expose Detroit's suspect secondary. Detroit does not match up well with Atlanta.

Re: FL's fearless Predictions: Bye Week Edition

        1) Yeah, I think Detroit is good but they're not all that good. My main issue with them is their running offense. Best has had two games where he averaged more than 3.6 YPC (vs. Chicago he had 13.6, @Dallas he had 4.3). While it's easier said than done, if teams can shut down Calvin Johnson, then they should beat Detroit. Dallas covered him well for about 45 minutes, then inexplicably changed their coverage which allowed him to beat them. This team reminds me a lot of the Falcons last year who depended a LOT on Roddy White.

At the same time, I'm not sure Atlanta is good enough to beat Detroit. Falcons' OL is still a mess, which is not a good thing against Detroit's DL.

        2) Very possible. I wouldn't be surprised if either team wins that game, as Denver is coming off of a bye week.

        3) I think Carolina's favored by Vegas to win that game

        4) That's a pretty bold prediction, IMO. I guess it's reasonable, but Palmer hasn't played football in a while and even if he knows their system well, he has barely any time to adjust to their offense and to the receivers. I never, ever like to bet on guys doing well when they've been away from the game for an extended period of time.

        5) I was thinking this would be a tougher game than people expect. Minnesota's defense is doing better lately and it's something of a rivalry game. Don't think Vikings are talented enough to eke out the win, though.

OK, I may have gone a bit overboard on Palmer.

Ill bet you 500K the Vikings lose to GB.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
            It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Is it safe to pick Denver over Miami?

I predict the complete opposite, except for the Dallas prediction.

there's not one game this week where 2 teams with winning records are playing each other.

Carolina winning is definitely not an upset. Vikings gave GB a run for their money though.
