    not offsides?

    Im watching the colts saints game... and the guard keeps reaching over and tapping the center to make him snap the ball.... how the heck is that not an offsides or motion penalty?
    In my day we did not have self-esteem... we had self-respect, and no more of it then we earned.

    Because his body doesn't move from the line of scrimmage.

        so a guard could TWITCH his hand and draw the defender off and its not a penalty?
        damn ive been watching football for 40 years and i thought ANY motion by a lineman once he is set is a motion penalty

                The difference is if they make a "sudden" motion, simulating the snap.

                Moving their hands around and/or pointing, touching a fellow OL doesn't do that.

                But if he were to suddenly go from a still motion to a quick, jerky type motion to do it, it may be called, because that's basically the same kind of movement they would have at the snap (thus, "simulating" the snap).
