View Full Version : I think that being indoors this Sunday gives Buffalo an edge

The roof is closed this Sunday, I feel that gives the Bills an edge to use their offensive speed to score more. Every game we have played has had nearly perfect weather, not nary a drop of rain & reasonable temps. I feel that has helped us get to be one of the highest scoring teams in the league, 4th in total points as of this Sunday.

Washington is not going to stop us from scoring, we're going to ding up a huge tally of points.

Go Bills!!

I would rather the Bills played in a snow storm in Buffalo in front of Bills Fans. The advantage of the 12th man would make up for the weather.

The weather in Buffalo isn't suppose to be all that bad on Sunday, high around 52, with mild wind conditions, great for football. The way the team has played at the RALPH this season, even if the weather was going to be crappy, I'd rather have them at the RALPH.

Other than Spiller what offensive speed do the Bills have?

I hope Spiller gets a few (5-8) touches.

Now you're getting my point, this Toronto thing is a total jam. We spend get to spend $~120 Million to build a winner & gave up our home field advantage for a fraction of that a game. It's absolutely maddening & makes you wonder if we're trying to gain every field advantage or every financial advantage, I think the latter.

I write with multiple meanings in my post, usually start with sarcasm.

This year seems to be a flipflop on any previous expectation, so I guess it's not out of the question that the Bills would tear it up in TO.

How so when it helps keep the team in town?

Would hate to hear what you'd call it if we played ALL of our "home" games in another city.

Well then we wouldn't be the "Buffalo" Bills anymore, now would we?

See, I disagree with this whole "It makes the team viable in WNY" bulljunk...

How much of that $78 million has Ralph put back into the team? We're around $20 million under the cap, our starting RB is pissed because he isn't getting paid anywhere near what his production should dictate and our starting QB and #1 WR are set to be Free Agents after this season, with no guarantee that either will return.

We're now in year 4 of the 5 year Toronto deal... So, after Sunday, we'll basically have played $58.5 million of the deal (in games terms). Can you show me that money reinvested into the Buffalo Bills?

Not to mention, taking a game (or two, in the case of the years where a preseason game is played in Toronto) out of Orchard Park also takes the revenue out of the city (and country) during those times. That's stadium employees missing paychecks, local establishements (such as hotels and restaurants) missing out on revenue, on top of many other things I'm sure I'm not thinking of.

Keep in mind, this is the same guy that refuses to sell stadium naming rights, but is asking for $100 million in taxpayer dollars to improve RWS... If he's gonna get $100 million for stadium improveents, I don't think he shoud be able to take games out of that stadium, just to pocket some more cash.

I'd like to see something in the new lease where, if the Bills decide to continue this Toronto Series crap, they should have to foot the bill for at least 1/8th of the stadium improvements tab, since they would be electing to not use the stadium on those dates.

Now Bill, there's nothing in your argument that I don't agree with. However the deal wouldn't have been made unless it helped us financially. Not concerning viability in WNY, mind you, but at least better off.

Ultimately I'm an out-of-stater, but willing games will help, especially in better revenue eastward.

Now Bill, there's nothing in your argument that I don't agree with. However the deal wouldn't have been made unless it helped us financially.

That's fine and I have no issue with that. But, when you say "us," I assume you mean the Bills...

Again, can you show me where this $78 million has made a difference in the on-field product? For example, is there a player that we have signed since the Toronto agreement began that we can say "The Bils wouldn't have been able to afford him, if it weren't for the Toronto deal." Because, honestly, I can't.

Are you aware that the players (from both teams) have to pay additional taxes to play in a Toronto game? That's on top of the NYS taxes... With everything else being equal, could a potential free agent decide against the Bills, because they realize they are gonna get additional taxes taken out of a game check or two, because the team owner decided to make a money grab?

Also, I think it's hard to agrue that the Bills are at a disadvantage, given the fact that even the players don't like the Toronto game.

Is it really worth the $78 million (that we don't really see invested back into the team) if it costs us competitive disadvantages?

Were you aware that, until 1994, the Green Bay Packers played games in Milwaukee, in order to "regionalize" the team? They stopped doing it because they improved Lambeau to the point where they decided to play in Lambeau full time.

I'm just saying, if you're asking me for $100 million, you should be using the stadium at every opportunity, as opposed to taking your business out of town (and country) in order to score a few extra greenbacks for yourself.

If Ralph wants to continue selling a game to Toronto (and as a result, putting the Bills at a competitive disadvantage) then he should at least chip in for the amount of time that the stadium is readily available to him, but he elects not to use it. If Ralph wants to have 1/8 of his home schedule in Toronto, he should foot the bill for 1/8 of the RWS costs, since he is electing to let the stadium sit empty on those days, IMO.

Yeah, this was done for money & not to help the team compete for market share. We have 2.5 Million people within a relatively short driving distance, if we were winning the party would be on more often.

The people who fill the stadium come from the places listed AND canada.. What percentage of seats are filled with canadian fans ? 15%? ( I don't know) I thought it was posted here some time ago. I heard more then one Canadian Bills fan say that they would rather drive down to the Ralph then watch The games in Toronto. It's cheaper to sit in the Ralph and the fans are more into the game, more atmosphere! That coupled with the fact that The Ralph has some great Tail gates doesn't hurt.

Agreed. I cannot wait to see what Freddie can do once the nasty Buffalo weather shows up!
