He was always streaky. He gets 2 or 3 hat tricks a season and then is virtually invisible in all the rest of the games.

      Re: Stafford

I see we have once again begun the condemnation of nearly everyone and everything after barely 1/5 of the season.

And with three new veteran players (and the rookie Adam) trying to fit in, slow starts for both Tylers, and a very average Miller, we are still 11-6 and in 1st place in the division.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I agree with Jan however I did mention this multiple times last season about Stafford. He has proved his detractors right so far.

I have had 0 problem with Stafford this year.

He is giving an honest effort every night.

He will have close to 25 to 30 goals by seasons end.

If a player is playing like ****, he deserves to get called out. It doesn't matter if we're 17-0 or 0-17. Just because we're in first place in the div doesn't mean all is right with the team. We might be in first now, but if some of these things (like Stafford) don't improve, we won't be staying there long.

I agree, he is not dogging it, he takes it to the net hard, he is basically the only player that drives the net with the puck on a regular basis. He has been killing penalties too, and looks to playing a little more physical this year.

                He'll have 18 goals.

3 hat tricks and 9 goals in the 79 games where he doesn't get a hat trick.

i'm more for calling miller the new luongo than stafford the new kotalik.

HOw do you like that for jumping the the anti-miller bandwagon?

I made a thread for the anti-miller crowd also.

                      You guys are too much.

What do you want 40 goals from a second line winger?

He is a solid player and has been playing hard every night. Had 5 shots on goal last night. No goals to show for it unfortunately but you do recognize him on the ice as he is going hard to the net. To compare to Kotalik who was invisible out there is kind of ******ed.

                        Consistency.

He scored 31 goals last year, but 12 came in just 4 games. I'd rather those goals came in 10-12 games and contributed to 8 or so wins rather than just piling it on in a handful of blowouts.

On top of that, aside from his 31 goals last season, he's never scored more than 20 and 4 of his six seasons were 16 or less (granted, one season was only 41 games).

I hear you and I would be more on your guys side if Stafford didn't give a solid effort night in and night out.

He consistently is in the top 3 or 4 in shots on goal and is always driving hard to the net. He is a streaky guy and that can be frustrating but I feel like people are being slightly too hard on him.

So far Stafford is on track for 16 goals this years and 40 total points. Kotalik Jr is right on track.
