Certainly there are differences, but the way he just seems to win unconventionally, and the strong divide in how people feel about him - there's an awful lot of parallels.

He is Flutie without the backstabbing, arrogance, is about 9 inches taller and weighs about 70 pounds more.

But other than that............

Not backstabbing, that's true...

That's funny. I literally told a friend of mine, yesterday, that Tebow reminds me of a giant Flutie. I actually like Tebow, but as was the case with Flutie, I don't see this style as a long-term winner. I don't see Tebow as a long-term QB unless there is QB improvement. He has some great tools, but sustainability remains to be seen. It's like fools gold all over again. This time in Denver instead of Buffalo.

I have a total man-crush on Tebow.

I even own his jersey. The only non-Bills jersey I have.

They have one thing in common-The 2011 Tebow & the 1999 Flutie both won because they played on a team with a very good defense. If the Jets have 20 points on the board with 2 minutes left, there is no Tebow magic, just a meaningless TD with time running out.
The main thing about last night was Ryan played Jauron ball. He's up by 3 with 6:41 left, ball at midfield & instead of trying to get a 1st down on 3rd & 13, he runs up the middle for 6 yards and punts. What kind of idiot plays clock with a 3 point lead & 6:41 left in the game?

He trusted his Punter (5 yd line)
He trusted his D
He called the right play to stop the TD

So did Dick Jauron. He didn't trust his QB, his OL or his receivers
Anyone who plays clock with 6:41 left & a 3 point lead is a Dick.

Well, come on, if you were a starting NFL quarterback and your team was trying to find every way in the book to bench you in favor of Rob Johnson, of all people, wouldn't you be a little resentful, too?

He was shutting them down all game he played the %'s but tebow made plays that he wasn't allowed to all game

i am not saying he made the right choice but i don't think it was a stupid choice given the %'s

espically with the way sanchez was throwing

he was rattled

there's a big difference between the two.... flutie, as much as i disliked him, was a quarterback, tebow is a glorified h-back

Just like there's no magic if Sanchez doesn't throw a pick-six. Or if Eddie Royal is tackled in the end zone like he should have been after a dumb throw. Or if the Jets don't stupidly telegraph and then pinch eight guys on the touchdown. The Jets simply gave that game away.

Should have could have. It was a great play by the Broncos & a bad play by the Jets. I think Rex went conservative at the end because he did not trust Sanchez to win the game.

The Bills went 21-9 when Flutie started. You don't consider that good?

and he went 7-14 with the Chargers. Is he really that good of a QB or was he helped by a better cast in Buffalo?

Just like with Flutie, the team wins despite him, not because of him.

you cant even compare the 2. Tebow is the worst qb to ever start an nfl game. flutie was a good qb

I didn't like Flutie as a QB. I don't like Tebow as a QB. I'm just saying that to anoint Flutie a loser and Tebow a winner is nonsense. They both suck.

Flutie was a good quarterback. When Rob Johnson started he was 9-17 in the same span that Flutie went 21-9. The Chargers were a bad team in 2001.

Tebow is going to have to learn the Qb position, and he could possibly end up like Vick.

Outperforming Rob Johnson does not qualify you to be a "good" QB.

Outperforming Kyle Orten and Brady Quinn doesn't either. Did you know Tebow had like a 7 or 9 on his wonderlic? Cam destroyed him in the classroom and on field lol

Well, there are MANY "good" QB's that did not go 4-1 in their 1st 5 starts.

I can see Tebow being more of a Trent Dilfer, rather than a Vick or McNair or McNabb. Not a great QB at all, but can manage an offense good enough to win games. Tebow could develop into a decent QB if he gets his percentage up. But, the intangibles / leadership qualities w/ Tebow could turn him into a great QB. Guess we'll see.

Isn't the "just wins" the same argument people used for Vince Young?

If Young had half of Tebows heart, leadership, competiveness he would be a QB you want on your team.

Dilfer & Tebow have nothing in common except they both won Championships.
