TBN: If game faces TV blackout, Bills won't bail it out

If game faces TV blackout, Bills won't bail it out
    by Gene Warner

Buffalo Bills fans shouldn't expect to see Sunday's home game with the Tennessee Titans on local television.

With about 12,200 tickets left for the game as of late Monday, the Bills seem unlikely to sell out the game in time to prevent the local TV blackout.

    ...

(T)he Bills (...) still have 14,400 tickets left for the Miami game Dec. 18 and 24,000 left for Denver on Dec. 24.

Kind of hard to pay for tickets to watch a team that has blew for the past decade.
Rather spend the money on Christmas.

So, you mean that at Christmas time during a ****ty economy, people don't want to pay lots of money to sit outside in ****ty weather for 3 hours and watch a team that isn't going to make the playoffs most likely lose the game? Just like every other year?

Win more games, sell more tickets. It's that easy.

Well Ralph has no one to blame other than himself. After 11+ years of losing what do you expect even from the best fans in football. You get what you pay for Ralph.

Who cares? The Bills are doing people a favor judging by the comments I read here. Go play with your kids or shop for xmas presents. Root for a team that wins. No one has a gun to your head.

hardly like we'd be the first team to not sell out this season, and it's not like at 76,000 - 12,000 = 64,000, we are seating more than the rogers center sold out plus a score of other stadiums around the league.

If the team won 2 games on the road trip, this game would have been a sell out. hell, even just beating the jets, a game they could have wrapped up in the early 3rd quarter if we had a kicker who could kick would have helped sell tickets, but the team is going to win 1 more game and blow another first round pick.

ralph, the team has needed depth for at least 10 years. you keep foregoing that to pad your own pocket book.

The team can still make it happen, just no room for error now.

Re: TBN: If game faces TV blackout, Bills won't bail it out

                  Gotta love this quote:

The "34-cent rule" allows the home team to "buy" the remaining unsold tickets at 34 cents on the dollar, to fund the visiting team's share of ticket revenue.

But don't expect the Bills to pursue that angle. "It's not something that we're interested in participating in, because it devalues our product," Brandon said.
No, fielding a team of late round draft picks and undrafted free agents, while sitting $20 plus million under the salary cap and not making the playoffs for 12 years is what is devaluing your product.

Ralph is like the first bailout king. He keeps funding undertalented, high priced talent and gives them no accountability so they can continnue to keep ****ting the bed year after year. Russ Brandon should be the next CEO of Bank of America. No signs of progress, a couple marketing errors, and overall much worse under his guidance.

good now Russ save all that money that you are saving by not buying out the tickets and put it a jar labeled building a winning tam fund.

Now you have money to spend on good players.

But reality is that jar is labeld ralph wilson's pockets

The Bills have a group of hard core fans which I would classify everyone on this board as. I'm sure the hard core fans that live in Buffalo will go to the games in December as they do the rest of the season.

Fans that do not live in the area however will not make a trip up to Buffalo in December unless it is to see family. They may go to the game while there but nobody is going to Buffalo for the game alone.

If the Bills were still in the hunt for a playoff spot I think there would be hard core fans that would make the trip for the game. Most have probably already made a trip to Buffalo however & as Op said money can be better spent on Christmas with the family than to watch a team that won't make the playoffs.

Every team needs casual fans to help sell out Stadiums & casual fans do not go to watch losing teams. No matter the team.
