So if the Bills didn't beat NE there would have been a good possibility that they would be picking 4th overall. Sweet, screwed again by New England. Hooray for meaningless wins.

the same could be said about Philly and Oakland then

The Redskins and Panthers winning is good for us.

Ed
12-18-2011, 01:59 PM
The Panthers winning is big because they play Tampa next week. So assuming we lose out, we'd be guaranteed to be picking ahead of the winner of that game. Tampa has a really high SOS so even if we finished tied at 5 wins we should still be picking ahead of them.

And Redskins play Minn. next week, which could be another win.

We never get the breaks needed to land a franchise QB.

Need to get ahead of the skins, just to have a shot and even then I'd do whatever I could to move to two. At some point we have to make a move and this the year to do it.

We know Luck goes to Indy. Cleveland would take a QB imo. We need Barkley to enter the draft and need to get ahead of Miami and Washington to have a good shot at one of the 3 tops QB's. Not sure where we are with SOS against those two .Very doubtful the Vikes, Rams or Jags take a QB. I don't think the Bucs are ready to give up on Freeman either. Skins and Phins would go QB. Hopefully they each win one more.

The thing is, both the Skins and Phins are desperate for a QB, and I feel both owners will do whatever it takes to get a franchise QB. Will our front office be aggressive? Doubt it. We need things to break our way, but even then other teams will be maneuvering to get a QB while we sit ideal.

TigerJ
12-18-2011, 09:46 PM
Yeah, both the Skins and and the Phins want a QB, so Buffalo would need to get ahead of at least one of them to have any shot at one of the top 3. I have a sneaking suspicion that Shanahan would love to get his hands on Barkley given his choice of RG3 or Barkley. I'm not sure who Miami would like. We'll have to check draft order on Tuesday. The Great Blue North Draft Report is usually pretty good about maintaining an up to date draft order this time of year.

Indy would prob. accept offers for Luck he is who I want if not him then Justin Blackmon, maybe Trent Richardson, cause with Freddie not getting a new deal yet, but while the Bills are watching the other teams in the playoffa there is still time to resign players like fred & Steve

I wouldn't mind Blackmon at all. Would hate to see Richardson, while he is a solid back, its going a bit overboard. No more RB's in first 3 rounds to replace what they already had. At this point if Freddy isn't resigned (it would be dumb not to) id like to see Choice signed to back up Spiller. Fill some holes instead of creating more.

Griffin fits a Shanahan offense better than Barkley does, so I would think that Washington drafts Griffin and then Barkely may fall to us. I think Cleveland can go either way when it comes to picking a QB.

I think were picking ninth now. Here's where we were going into this game:

1. Indianapolis Colts (0-14)
2. Minnesota Vikings (2-11, 114 opponent wins)
3. St. Louis Rams (2-11, 121 opponent wins)
4. Washington Redskins (4-9, 95 opponent wins)
5/6. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9, 105 opponent wins)
5/6. Carolina Panthers (4-9, 105 opponent wins)
7. Miami Dolphins (4-9, 109 opponent wins)
8. Cleveland Browns (4-9, 110 opponent wins)
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-9, 112 opponent wins)
10. Philadelphia Eagles (5-8, 102 opponent wins)
11. Buffalo Bills (5-8, 107 opponent wins)

Now:

1. Indianapolis Colts (1-14)
2. Minnesota Vikings (2-12, 114 opponent wins)
3. St. Louis Rams (2-12, 121 opponent wins)
4. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-10, 106 opponent wins)
5. Cleveland Browns (4-10, 110 opponent wins)
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-10, 112 opponent wins)
7. Washington Redskins (5-9, 95 opponent wins)
8. Carolina Panthers (5-9, 105 opponent wins)
9. Buffalo Bills (5-9, 107 opponent wins)
10. Miami Dolphins (5-9, 109 opponent wins)
11. Philadelphia Eagles (6-8, 102 opponent wins)

I didn't update the opponent wins (SOS) so we could be as high as 7 or as low as 10.

Remaining:

Clev- Bal, Pitt- if Pitt rests their starters maybe but not looking like they can win another game
Jax- Tenn, Ind- They could win either but they are also really bad. I think they beat Indy
TB- Car, Atl- Maybe Car, only shot with ATL is if they rest their starters
Wash- Minn, Phil- I think they beat Minn
Car- TB, NO- Could beat TB, only shot with NO is if they rest their starters

Prediction:

Jax, Car, and Wash all win one more. I think we end up picking 7th.

Griffin, Barkley and Luck are all gone before the Bills pick. Cleveland, Indi and Minnesota all need QBs and will be sure to pick ahead of us.

Unless Minnesota is happy with Ponder. Hopefully they are. If so, and we end up ahead of Washington and Miami we have a good shot at one of the three.

St.Louis, Jacksonville, Carolina and Tampa won't go QB anyway.

Cleveland and Indy will. I can see Minnesota trading their pick to a team that needs a QB who's picking behind Buffalo and with that pick draft Martin. Or Minnesota will go with the pick they have and draft Kalil.

I think it's going to play out...

1. Indy: Luck
2. Washington (From Minn.) Griffin or Barkley
3. Rams: Blackmon
4. Browns: Barkley or Griffin

I don't think it'll matter if Jacksonville wins one more, Playing their last two games versus Indianapolis and Tennessee isn't going to give them a stronger schedule and drop them behind Buffalo in the draft. They would have to beat both Indy and Tenn. Carolina and Washington do have a good shot of winning one.
