All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

What's so crazy about the Bills drafting a QB even with Fitz's deal?

If Barkley doesn't declare, you can pretty much forget about the Bills going QB in Round 1 regardless of Fitz. The only QB's really worth drafting in the Top 10 are Barkley, Luck, and Robert Griffin III. Luck will definitely be gone before the Bills pick, and if Barkley is out of the picture, RGIII will be gone as well.
Is he any good? I've not seen him play. USC's recent qbs - Sanchez and Leinart - aren't exactly setting the NFL on fire. Booty never made the cut.
I'm always leery of USC QB's. They put up big numbers, but they also play most of their games against inferior talent, with tons of talent on their side of the ball. When you look at Leinart and Sanchez, you can see why. They aren't used to playing in bad weather and they aren't used to playing equal competition week in and week out.
IMO until the Bills draft a franchise QB to turn the team around it will be stuck in neutral. In the last 30 years the only time the team was consistently good was when they had a bonafide franchise QB.
I think having a franchise QB makes it easler to attract free agents as well. If Barkley does stay at USC and the Bills stay with Fitz then I do not see the Bills getting any better next year. The only chance the Bills have to get a franchise QB is if Barley declares since no way RGIII will last until the Bills pick if Barkley stays.
They moved it back an hour but Pete Thamel of the NYT just said Barkley has told his teammates he will return.
Also word is leaking that both RGIII and Landry Jones are leaning towards returning to school.
it wouldnt suprise me at all if he stays, since USC will be bowl eligible next year... RGIII staying in though doesnt make much sense... i dont know much about Jones to form an opinion

If you make something "Idiot-proof", they'll only make better idiots!
I hope Barkley and RGIII do end up staying. I don't want to see Miami land either of these guys and I don't think the Bills had a shot at them, or end up picking them anyway.
Fitz is our qb next year whether we like it or not. So if Barkley and RGIII don't enter the draft there's really no point in debating the qb position.

Makes sense for Jones to stay in school IMO. If he improves his game next year he will be drafted much higher than he would have this year, maybe higher than Barkley if both stay.
