Team short $300 million to build new facility
The big question facing Denise DeBartolo York and John York's ownership of the 49ers is how they are going to handle the great stadium conundrum.
John York said he has yet to justify spending $300 million of family money to build a high-revenue stadium to replace worn-down Candlestick Park.
The 49ers have no intention of going back to voters to seek more than the $100 million previously authorized in a lease revenue bond for building the stadium/mall. Under the NFL's current stadium fund, the 49ers would be able to secure approximately $130 million in loans....
