The Old Fart just filled his diaper when he heard that.

7.5 seems reasonable for a number 1.5 receiver.

More than reasonable in my opinion.

            That should already be done.

He'll probably sign for 7 with an extra year added.

7.5 million is fair price.....I thought he was asking for something like 9-12 million which he is not worth.

I can't believe the bills were only willing to offer 5 .5 million per year to stevie

                  edit, I can believe it

I thought he was asking for $9 or 10 million...if he's willing to give them a discount because he likes it here and will sign for $7 or 7.5....why isn't it already done? WTF! Pay the man!

Re: Source: Stevie Johnson's asking price to Bills: $7.5 million

3 years 18 million and give him 7 guranteed.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                        It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

The article said that they approached him first and then did Fitz.

I imagine this will get done once the season is done, especially since he will be the first bill to have back to back 1000 yards receiving in one year.

Re: Source: Stevie Johnson's asking price to Bills: $7.5 million

If that's all he wants then definitely sign him if it's for 7.5 million a year. That's right around the price I determined his value to be. A lot better then the 10+ million a year many here are willing to fork over for him.

Just because the Bills only offered 5.5 million doesn't mean that's all they were willing to spend. If he was originally asking 10 million or so then the Bills are going to offer about half of that. Both sides are offering more and less then they are willing to accept and hoping to meet in the middle somewhere. It's called a negotiation.

If this deal doesn't get done then it would be unacceptable if that is really is current asking price. Stevie isn't the best but he's worth keeping around for an average of 7.5 million a year unless he wanted an obscene amount of it to be guaranteed money. If so that would change things.

I'm glad some around here aren't our GM. If he ask for 11 million then they would just give it to him and not try to negotiate. This would be a fair deal for both sides.
