Great writeup Coach. Looking at this list, $7.5M is very reasonable for both sides - as long as Stevie remembers to catch the balls instead of dropping them.

I could live with that, wait, it isn't my money.

          Hey Sal,
If you don't mind, along with that list I've used Stats LLC to get their targets, catches and drops along with their salary:
          (source:http://hosted.stats.com/fb/findplaye...ion&position=1)

          Name Targets Catches Drops Salary

          Lee Evans 25 4 1 8.25
          Larry Fitzgerald 136 71 2 16.1
          Miles Austin 68 41 2 9
          Sidney Rice 57 32 2 8.2
          Reggie Wayne 121 67 2 6.5
          Andre Johnson 149 31 3 9.3
          Greg Jennings 99 67 3 9.1
          Stevie Johnson 127 72 3 0.5
          Santonio Holmes 100 51 4 9
          Megatron 141 85 5 12.6
          Vince Jackson 110 58 5 11.2
          DHB 96 55 5 7.7
          Steve Smith 122 73 7 11
          Anquan Boldin 106 57 7 8.3
          Brandon Marshall 132 76 12 11.2
          Roddy White 171 96 13 8.5

So if you look at him compared to a receiver with a minimum of 60 targets, he's sixth in drops with three. And if his agent had a less headstrong client, he could convince him to ask for at least 9 million based off that. But Stevie's Stevie and is asking per the Coach in the 7s.

Stevie has one of the best catch/target percentages.... Stone hands he must have....

I see that Stevie also has fewer drops than many of the receivers that people say have better hands than him.

I couldn't imagine how Roddy White would be received if he were a Bill....

Thanks for the great information that you and Joe put together. Hopefully, they can sign Stevie and get an upgrade on the other side of him to have a solid receiving core (along with Nelson and Chandler). The Buffalo News had an article http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bi...icle689841.ece that talks about the Z receiver has an average yards per catch of 9.7 yards, last in the NFL. An upgrade there and Stevie remaining productive is the solution, not losing Stevie and having to fill both receiver slots.

For those wondering, the time period for NFL teams to officially place franchise tag on players runs from Feb 20 - March 5 at 4pm.

These dates are from the league office.

They can't possibly let Steve Johnson go fiven the dearth of talent behind him. Obviously he is no Calvin Johnson but he is not getting paid to be so that is fine.
