97 Rock to dump the Bills

97 Rock, 103.3 The Edge drop Bills

Other stations affected include the Bills' radio affiliates in Syracuse, Binghamton and Erie. Rochester, despite WIVB's statement, is not affected, as it's owned by a different company.

The radio broadcasts should be worth more while Ralph is the owner, no reason to go to the games / spend money & watch them fail when you can simply listen to the radio for free.

Re: 97 Rock to dump the Bills

Check out my thread for more info. 97 Rock dropping the Bills does not affect the rest of the Bills network stations. They can choose to be part of the network the new flagship station will form.

While WGR and WHAM in Rochester are the two familiar favorites, I predict Rogers in Toronto, owners of the Fan 590 and the Bills in Toronto series, to become the new Bills flagship. In fact, I have a conspiracy theory that Rogers already made an extremely attractive bid for the Bills rights. The Bills, who owe 97 Rock right of first refusal, probably asked for a huge increase, knowing 97 Rock's parent company, Cumulus, just went through a major merger and would not have money to absorb a big rate jump. Anyway that's just my conspiracy theory.

i like that the bills will spin this as lack of interest in the team and a reasont o have to move the team or look at its options in stead of admitting no team in the NFL could handle being as ****ty other than the lions and they finally got a reprieve from the awfulness. F the Bills and how they are run.

I think you mean this thread. The one you linked was the one we're on right now. Apologies for the duplicate post... but yeah, Cumulus is known for this sort of cost-cutting, so it doesn't surprise me. The real issue, of course, is if another station picks them up, and if so, which one.

Thanks for catching that. My bad for not making my thread title clear.

There is no question some company will pick them up & at much more money than 97 Rock has been paying.
