"A Formidable Pass Rusher", says Jackson

In his interview this morning on WGR550, Fred Jackson basically said that a formidable pass rusher is most likely the Bills top priority this off season. http://www.wgr550.com/topic/play_win...udioId=5625048

You can listen to the entire interview where he also talks about other subjects using the link above.

But the basis of this thread is to focus on the pass rusher to read opinions from members on this board. Who do you think that pass rusher could be, whether it be through free agency, or the draft? Who would you like it to be? etc.

Ssshhhhh Freddie... you're messing up Nix's misdirection strategy that he uses to throw other teams off, which consists of interviewing every QB who might be available within 5 picks of ours while still publicly stating confidence in Fitzpatrick.

I hope so. Brady doesn't like to get hit, Romo blows under pressure and we make Sanchez look like a decent qb because we have no pash rush.

Wait, we need to hit the quarterback? I thought they were untouchable... Oh wait, we can intimidate them? WELL WHO DIDN'T TELL RALPH? When we make the other team lose 8 yards because we knocked the QB down, what's that called? I need a refresher course...

Injuries, and terrible rule changes over the past 10 years. Welcome to the new NFL

I swear, an infant could run an NFL team if they would stop flip flopping every ^#*)(*@#$&*!))*%@# second of their *@)$#(%& lives to make it a )@(*#$da)(* fair game. Not even for the Bills alone, but for the rest of the NFL. This league is just getting beyond sad.

Ok, is this just some random rant, or is there a point to it that is relevant to the topic? just wondering.

Well Freddie is just stating the obvious. When your leading pass rusher is a rookie who lined up primarily at NT, you got problems.

Buddy telegraphed the entire world about his (dumb) pick of Spiller (A.k.a. Onan).

                      Deja vu.

Freddie is crazy... doesn't he remember we just gave a huge contract to Chris Kelsay? He's our elite pass rusher!!

Re: "A Formidable Pass Rusher", says Jackson

Let me get Fred Jackkson out of the way first. As someone said, he's stating the opvious, but I rather doubt that Buddy Nix and or Chan Gailey confided in him and said, "Fred, this is what we're going to do inn the offseason."

As far as pass rushers are concerned, the most authoritative persons on this board are going to be DraftBoy, Ingtar, and XEra. I offer an opinion that is mostly based on other opinions I've read about.

That said, Quinton Coples is probably the most natural pass rusher from the DE spot. Lots of people question how motivated he is, and he does disappear a lot. Some think he can move to a rush linebacker spot, some don't.

Other allegedly elite pass rushers include Vinny Curry (4-3 DE/3-4 rush linebacker), Whitney Mercilus (4-3 DE/3-4 rush linebacker), Nick Perry (best fit is 3-4 rush linebacker), Brandon Jenkins (4-3 DE/3-4 rush linebacker)and Andre Branch (4-3 DE/3-4 rush linebacker).

I didn't include Zach Brown, Ronnell Lewis, Bruce Irvin, or Courtney Upshaw because none of them had insane sack totals this past season. Zach Brown would be a 4-3 linbacker most likely and while undersized has insane speed off the edge. Upshaw is a very good and well rounded player, but not especially a sack artist. Ronnell Lewis is like Upshaw but smaller. Bruce Irvin is a pass rush specialist, but didn't have a great sack total this past season.

Vinny Curry is a natural pass rusher with excellent size, but probably needs to be coached up to the NFL more than some. Whitney Mercilus had lots of sacks but some question whether he has elite athleticism. Nick Perry has an excellent size/speed blend. He's not as fast as Zach Brown, but he's 20 lbs bigger. He may have a very high ceiling, though he's not accomplished as much as some. Brandon Jenkins didn't have as many sacks as some, but got good pressure on QBs despite facing a fair amount of extra attention from blocking schemes. Andre Branch had a good sack total. He has nice length as he's one of the taller prospects.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I believe and hope the Buffalo Bills will draft the best player available regardless of position but NOT a running back.
