Stan Hixon - Bills WR Coach

Some rumors on PSU websites that Hixon is leaving Bills to be WR coach at PSU. Doesn't seem official and may not be true, just wanted to let people know. Figured if it was official there would have been a thread here already. Anyone know anything more about it?

So our WR coach of our NFL team is leaving to be a WR coach on a college team?

      I guess nobody cares?

PSU people saying multiple reports out of Buffalo are saying that he's going to PSU. Still haven't seen the reports myself, but seems close to a done deal.

Considering the talent level of Buffalo's receivers, seems like he's done a good job, but not sure how much he can take credit for after only being here for one year.

@wtajsports: Confirmed through Buffalo Bills team source that WR coach Stan Hixon will join Bill O'Brien's coaching staff at #PennState.

Maybe. Not sure why, to be honest, but sometimes people do strange things.

PSU's basketball coach recently left to take less money to go to a less prestigious school. It was most likely because his job security was an issue at PSU and would have lasted one more year at best, and he could see what was inevitable.

That makes no sense why make a lateral move to collegiate level? If
PSU paid him more than bills then that's sad

Hixon is a collegiate coach, he's only been with two pro teams (Washington and Buffalo).

That was after he spent time with Richmond, Morehead, Appalachian State, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and LSU.

Like I said, not sure. It's possible he sees PSU as more job security than Buffalo under Gailey. It's possible he's closer to Bill O'Brien (who coached with him at Ga Tech) than with Gailey. It's possible he prefers coaching in college. I really don't know.

i understand coaches going from pro to colleges, but when they do, its usually because of an upgrade in terms of the "totem pole" if the move is truely lateral, there must have been something behind the move, aside from $$.

I'd agree, usually you're right. But apparently there can be exceptions.

Just saw on rotoworld.com that the Falcons' DC agreed to become Auburn's DC, which would be a step down also.

                      It's not a lateral move, it's a promotion.

Interesting. Many PSU fans thought Larry Johnson Sr. would get an AHC title. If true, I guess not.
